Rude Awakening

I would not recommend this facility. Every time that I have went to Asylum I have been treated as if me and my friends were a burden to their business. Either they have had speedball tourneys and those sponsored teams where like royalty or Air-soft was there and they where given first choice. Whenever they wanted a field all paintball players where aggressively encouraged to move to a new field as if i didn't pay the same amount of money to play. The referees and staff are a complete joke. They allow 10-15 year old kids to ref your games and speak to paying customers (adults) in any manor they feel. When the management is notified of this treatment they only say they are going to side with their immature, disrespectful and untruthful kid refs. Once the refs learn of your dissatisfaction with the service they tell lies to the owner Kenny and implement a zero tolerance policy and threaten to kick you out for any infraction. They claim a no cursing policy but blare music littered with curse words and the management curses then says you will be kicked out with no refund for cursing. These actions are all backed up by management with out evidence of infraction. What a joke. Among all of these things that occur, the prices of paint fluctuates depending on circumstance. The same box of paint the week before becomes 10-15$ more expensive if you show up on an event day regardless of your participation in that event. My overall experience has been poor and I will not be returning to Asylum. There are other places to go that actually care about customer service and the product that they are providing to their customers. Asylum has very unprofessional management/staff from top to bottom. To sum this up the fields have their issues with trash and minor things that won't detract from your fun, but the management is the biggest negative about this place and will ruin your day.

Paintball Asylum has its anchor securely set in the waters of Extreme Sports and has also cornered the market in the Louisville Metro area with its premiere fields for paintball and airsoft players. The same, however, cannot be said for the maintenance and general upkeep of those fields. Although various construction projects continually improve the landscape and each visit brings a new addition, the fields themselves are littered with garbage, fallen tree limbs, broken equipment, etc. For this review, it should be known that the current month is June, and there are still Halloween props decorating the fields. This particular complaint is not to be construed as anything negative as it has no real effect on games played, just an example of the lack of maintenance and upkeep displayed by Paintball Asylum. The biggest obstacle is Paintball Asylum’s staff. It should be stated, that if you are a sponsored team, the following does not apply as you are clearly treated more in an upper class manner than the rest of civilization. The staff at Paintball Asylum is the kryptonite of fun, fairness, respect, and/or helpfulness. Inside the cramped, outdated, and surprise(!) poorly maintained “Pro-Shop”, customers are subjected to the overtly rude and short tempered members of the staff, who display an attitude that comes off as better-than-you. In my personal opinion, if you know very little about the sport of paintball or airsoft, please Google or Bing the heck out of it BEFORE you enter the facility less you be put on public display by the pro-shop staff as the village idiot. Seriously. As bad as that reads, they are but a third of the staffing plague of which Paintball Asylum suffers. On any given weekend, especially if there is a PSP or MSXL tournament occurring (which means EVERY other type of player/paying customer is a secondary or even tertiary class of human) players of all ages, genders, ethnicity, backgrounds, and experience levels literally pay for the opportunity to be treated like ill-behaved children BY real, ill-behaved children! I’m describing, of course, the “Referee” part of the staff. When I speak of Paintball Referee’s, I typically speak of them in a higher regard as these persons sacrifice their bodies and their safety, in the midst of literal firefights to check for hits, enforce game rules, etc. Unfortunately at Paintball Asylum, the ref’s rarely move their feet, let alone get involved in any way other than to threaten players with expulsion from the facility if they do something the ref doesn’t like. The best part, is the entire section of this sub-group of the overall staff at Paintball Asylum is comprised of 13-15 year olds who are eerily reminiscent of the all too common screaming kid who didn’t get their way one sometimes encounters throughout various aspects of our daily lives. I have been to Paintball Asylum at least ten times, each time hoping for a better experience yet persistently let down by being talked to as though I am a creature that is lower than the dirt these kid-refs are walking on. This brings me to the final third of the staff, the owner and manager, Mr. Kenneth Schell. Mr. Schell has taken great strides to constantly improve the fields with ambitious projects, such as the urban combat field, and is a hands-on, build it big or go home type of owner. However, Mr. Schell has very little, if any, customer service experience and it’s clearly reflective all the way down the chain of command which is in itself, an oxymoron as everyone who works at Paintball Asylum believes themselves to be the owner and manager. Mr. Schell is an unapproachable and downright arrogant man who sees each person as a walking dollar sign, period.

Darkness Falls Hunted Trail is really good. I have a couple suggestions, put more people through out the trails where it's dark to scare you. More obstacles would also be great.

I have to agree with the first reviewer, this place has very poor customer service and the employees are very rude and unprofessional. I would advise everyone to take their business else where

The employees at this place are very rude and unprofessional. I was even told by the owner "that if I had a problem we could take it outside". I would advise everyone to steer clear of this place.
