My physician is Dr. Frank Deland and I have been a patient of his for many years now. He is hands down the best doctor in any specialty I have ever experienced. I am seeing low ratings for the business, and I do acknowledge that there is often a wait to see some of the practitioners, but I also sometimes go over the allotted amount of time if I am having issues, so I schedule my day accordingly. This practice is very busy, so I think it likely that the complaints I am reading here about communication lapses could be right, however my doctor there has not only improved the quality of my life, but has saved my life--he is top rate, and I cannot give him enough credit for his patience with me, so I have no issue with being patient with him if he is running behind. The office is responsible for booking the appointments, and he has to schedule a patient every 15 or 20 minutes, so if he gives you more time as he deems necessary, then of course as the day goes on he will run more behind. But if he is your doctor, you also know if you need to be working in emergently, or speak to him outside of office hours he will be available. I don't know about the other counselors or the ARNP, but I have seen a number of psychiatrists as well as other specialists, and Dr. Deland is outstanding, not only as a physician, but a genuine, caring person. For what price or rating do you give to be treated by such a great, authentic person?

I had an appointment with Ms. Denzik, APRN as a new patient to have my medications managed by someone other than my PCP for my major depressive disorder and postpartum depression. I had to wait for 45 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. Once I met with Cheryl Denzik APRN, she belittled my other doctors, was condescending, and rushed me out after putting me on a medication that I was on previously. I called back after a week because my medication caused my depression to worsen. It took her 3 days to respond to me although I called frequently and spoke to numerous administrative employees and her nursing assistant only to get a call back from her assistant saying that my chart was on her desk with a note saying to "check into The Brook or Baptist inpatient" without trying to talk to me about adjusting the medications. Also, she implied I wouldn't be able to afford medications although I have private insurance and the means to buy my prescriptions. She is in the wrong profession.

Left me sobbing

I had an appointment with their nurse practitioner, Cheryl Denzik. I have extreme anxiety and was unable to go into her office without becoming very emotional. I asked if my husband could come back with me and was told no. I explained my conditions and issues and asked for something to treat my panic attacks, I was told no and she seemed as if I was asking for heroine. She only upped my currents meds and told me that should help. Our session was quick and I was crying when she was finished with me and left me in her office not able to catch my breath. I know I am a difficult patient, that's why I need help. Not what I expect from a mental health professional.

excellent care

Dr. Buttler and others in this office are caring professionals. The office is open on weekends and evenings for patient convenience. In the past 2years I have never waited more than 10 minutes past my appointment time. The office calls and reminds you the day before. Yes any qualified psychiatrist is difficult to get a first appointment as soon as you would like one, but once you are a patient appointments are easy to arrange and they will ALWAYS see you if you are in need. Dr. Butler keeps me on tract and healthy.

I had a good therapist here bu...

I had a good therapist here but after I started therapy I was referred to a pyschiatrist for meds and anxiety.

I went to see a Nurse Practioner since psyciatrists book 2 months out at the time and she acted like I was a drug addict and named off every medication that she WOULD NOT PRESCRIBE ME. She asked me if i was on opiates 3 times, if i was cocaine twice, threatened a drug test.

Very insulting and frustrating to someone when you are seeing that Dr. for your anxiety and trying to take it seriously...

Stay Far, Far, Far Away!!! Worst Out-patient Practice in Kentucky

After waiting 6 weeks to get an appointment at Louisville Behavioral Health, I was scheduled for my first visit with a psychiatrist at their clinic at 2pm this afternoon (02/21/2011).

Upon filling out the initial paperwork, I was informed that the doctor was running late and that I should go "get a snack at the cafeteria" in the building next door. That should have been my signal to run far, far away, but I stayed and declined the receptionist's suggestion. I had already eaten lunch and had no desire to be transplanted.

After sitting in the waiting room (surrounded by notices of $25-$45 late/cancellation fees) for another hour, I asked the receptionist when to expect the doctor, as I had already taken off over 2 hours of work at this point. Again, she was unsure and confessed that this is pretty typical behavior of the physicians in this practice.

By 3:30, I was tired of waiting and asked to reschedule my appointment. Of course, there were no openings for another 6-8 weeks, so here I am filing a complaint to the BBB and researching the dangers of quitting/ going “cold turkey” off of both Prozac and Wellbutrin simultaneously…

“By stopping cold turkey, serotonergic activity will drop drastically. Hence withdrawal side-effects may appear such as electrical surges/shocks in the head (brain shivers) and/or body, pins and needles on the skin, feelings as being on the verge of losing consciousness, blackouts, short term memory problems, etc…”

Looks like I’ll soon be researching medical malpractice attorneys too!

Do NOT go to Louisville Behavioral Health

Louisville Behavioral Health (LBH) is a poorly and carelessly run psychological and psychiatric doctors' office. I saw a doctor there in September 2007, and she took me off my psychotropic drugs after a ten-minute in-take session. The results, as you can imagine, were horrible. Then, a month ago -- wanting to give the practice another chance and wanting to save myself transportation costs -- I decided to transfer my records to LBH with the doctor I've had at another practice since November 2007. Major MISTAKE. My doctor's other practice closed my patient file before ensuring that the file reached LBH. Therefore, when I ran out of my medication, neither practice would contact my physician because I wasn't their patient. LBH is extremely careless because they refused to work with me to find a solution when my meds ran out. I finally got an appointment with my doctor at that office for Monday, but on the Thursday prior to that, they refused to ask my doctor to fill my prescription because "You're not a patient here until Monday." An attorney told me that my experience with the first doctor I saw there was an example of doctor negligence, but I didn't pursue it in court. Now I find again that the members of this practice are demonstrating carelessness in their patient care again. Find a doctor in another practice, but don't use Louisville Behavioral Health.
