Great atmosphere and ambiance, however the service could be better. Looks like management needs to make a few tweaks to make this place a 5 star restaurant.

Disapointment

Too bad I couldn't give them less than 1 star. We went thinking it was the old Tangier. In its place we found a bitchy hostess, and food that was less than stellar. We're no experts (though we do eat out a lot), but we're convinced our fish was at least a few days old...it was just fishy. And that was probably about the only thing that had taste. Everything else was bland -- just flat.

The decor was nice.

Don't dine here for good customer service

With their restaurant literally half empty, Tangier told us we needed a reservation to use our groupon coupon with them. We went across the street for dinner and checked back there an hour later: 17 tables were empty! The manager wouldn't extend our expiration date either.

They don't value their already paying patrons or honor their word.

miss you:(

I used to go here years ago to hear some awesome bands and they had great food too! where did u guys go?
I know new owners took over a couple years ago (it was not the same, but still had live music)
but now your totally gone.

I am so bummed that Tangier closed. The calamari to die for! drunken duck- melted in your mouth.
The salmon with orzo pasta-yummmmmmy.
oh well.

Are they in business?

I've been walking by the restaurant the last few nights and it's been closed. The website is down and the phone line is disconnected.

Perfect for the time

I went with a few friends and had a blast, of course how can n you not have fun when you are drunk in an hour. From what I remember the drinks were a great price ( only paid for 2 for the 7) and the band was great. Would go again.

Not what I expected

Tangier is a very elegant and hip looking restaurant. However, looks may be deceiving. My overall experience wasn't that great. The I ordered the shrimp linguini and it only had 3 shrimps! The portions were very small. I usually get full before I can finish the whole plate, but seems like I had to rely on dessert this time to get full (which was very delicious by the way). There was a small insect in my wine. It got replaced, but the waitress pretended it was cork. Who was she trying to kid? Cork doesn't have 6 legs and wings. We still got charged for the drink. Typically restaurants remove it from the tab to make up for it. The valet parking was $5 and parking on the street was not an option. There weren't any spaces available.

great!

Actually, we thought the food was really good
Great cappucino and flourless chocolate cake
We were there on a Wednesday and the jazz duo was great. There's two areas that have music and the dining room is really romantic, the blonde pianist has a great voice

Part 2 - Don't go there for Dinner...maybe for an after drink

Oh and when we ordered Dessert, and they were out of Cheesecake which is a Dessert STAPLE. Sounds like poor management to me.

Though my friend and I had a great time due to each other's company, the Dining portion of the experience was poor. Though I still wouldn't write Tangier off ( the bar menu might work), it is definitely only a place to have a drink or a snack (in a intimate loungy vibe) and hear a crooner AFTER you've eaten Dinner somewhere else......Again, I have never posted something like this, but felt STRONGLY the need to share.

fun place

They bring in some good bands to perform here. I love the atmosphere and the music!! Went there a few times with friends and we always had a blast! Just don't order any food here.. It's expensive and the food is totally not worth it! The bartenders are very friendly, but they can't make good drinks (have had 4 different cocktails and margaritas and they were all disappointing).

Very nice

I went here after the Greek theatre one night and had a great time. It is really beautiful inside- I just cannot believe we have never gone here. We had some great appetizers at the bar- I cannot stop thinking about the calamari- the best I have had in La. All in all a great experience ! The live music room looks amazing... so I will be going back to see a show there.
Check it OUT!

horrible food

Finally decided to go to Tangier, and it wasnt all that. Nice romantic place, but doesnt live up to its expectations. It is a great for a drink or two, great decor, and good service; however, food was terrible. I ordered some chicken and it was tasteless, and the portion was very small. I am not one to complain about portions, but this was ridiculous based on the price. Would not recommend this place to anyone, unless its just for a drink.

Not impressed

Not impressed with the food. For a place called Tangier, you would expect a great morrocan dishes. Disappointing. Wait staff was nice. Too bad the food wasn't good.

great place

I have been going here for 2 years now we are lucky enough to live right around the corner. My sister and I love their food and the live music. They have made some changes and they look great. We love the new elegant wine glasses. My wine sommelier friends are going to be extremely pleased. When you go, be sure to endulge in the food and the live music (they bring in some of the finest Los angeles musicians). Try the Feta cube and the Salmon or the Black cod.

need to call back people

I have held 3 parties at Tangier in the past with my company. I believe Lora was the event planner, and she was very helpful and made it a lovely evening. I called today and spoke with someone that did not seem to know where to direct my questions. I got left in a mailsystem with noone that replied. The only thing I was told is that there are new owners and lora was not there anymore. I only wish someone would call me back.

Love it here!

This place has the best food in Los feliz- much to my surprise! I always went for the live music in the lounge, and finally we had a birthday dinner reservation last week and the food was so good. Try the lemon butter chicken or the Black cod, they were our favorites. If you are looking for a quiter night don't go on saturday- it gets really busy in there.
This is a great place for large group parties that also want to stay for the FREE- yes Free, Dj in the lounge at 10pm.
