After reading the one review from 2009, I had to chime in. Somper is a well-established company featuring not only fashionable competitively priced pieces, but a huge wholesale business of lynx pelts and coats to a worldwide market. That said, the one-on-one service I have received over the years has been wonderful. The quality and selection of the retail furs top notch, and the prices more than fair. They serve an amazing clientele of Hollywood and New York celebrities, studio costume designers, and yes, even ordinary folks such as I with efficiency and courtesy. Somper provides furs to the entertainment industry at no charge -- just to promote fur wearing. It is worth the drive to the large showroom at Washington and Western to view their selection, have a repair or alteration made, or store your furs at a very reasonable rate.

When I first bought my coat from Somper, they were on Canon in Beverly Hills in the mid 1990's, I was made to feel special. I stored my coat there every year. I would call and they would pick up the coat, and it was always a pleasant experience. I believe they changed ownership and relocated to Washington Blvd. Everything changed dramatically after that move. When I called I was berated. I just ask them to deliver the coat to my home. When they picked it up, and I asked where they were located, they promised that they would deliver the coat once with no charge. I asked when it could be delivered this winter and was rudely told that they had new customers purchasing new items and had no time to stop and drive back to my home and deliver my coat. They had no date available and I offered several options over a 7 day period. They offered to mail it to me, but when I asked would it be insured so that it would not be lost they would not. So eventually, out of fear of never seeing my coat again said I would go and pick it up. Now, picking it up is not the problem, but being treated so rudely and being made to feel less than important as a paying customer was very insulting. The woman I spoke with cut me off, would not let me speak or ask questions. I do not recommend storing your coat at Somper Furs. They do not value that business. Probably still a great place to purchase a new coat, but storing furs is not their preference, it seems to be a nuisance to them.
