Go to a reputable Bridal House where you know that the gown you are buying is authentic and priced according to the manufacturers retail suggestion. My experience was a nightmare. This place claims it sells designer gowns. Oh, they HAVE designer gowns - but the one YOU get will be priced 3 times higher than the actual price, then the original tag will be ripped out and replaced with a fake designer name LaRouge. Try asking for a picture of your dress after you leave your deposit and watch the show!! You won't get a picture, that I can promise you. After you leave your ""deposit"" everything will change, and get even worse - their attitude, the service, everything. The dressing room is teenie, dirty and smelly. Purchasing your wedding dress should be a pleasant experience and something to remember for ever. You won't get that at IBEX. Remember, you get what you pay for. If you're happy buying fake designer dress at 3 times the cost - then Ibex is your store.

I went to Ibex back in may and found my dress. I was surprised how this store in downtown Los Angeles had almost all the designers I wanted. The service was great, the bridal consultant was very patient and nice. When I went home I did search this store in citysearch and found it. I was in shock when I read the reviews. For 4 months I had nightmares about my wedding dress based on those reviews. I got a call from the store 2 weeks before the date they promissed the gown. My gown is BEAUTIFUL, the service was still nice, people very understanding, the alteration lady was very professional. I had to go there only twice and my gown did fit perfect on me. Overall I am Very Happy that I bought my gown there. It was very beautiful and cheaper than some fancy stores.I highly recommend the store .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got married last year in October. I really hadent paid much mind to where exaclty I would purchase my dress from, until a girl told me she had bought heres at IBEX beacuse they have a great selection and they have a great layaway plan. I went and first of the old man that works there is always rude, he has no expericene with customer service, and lacks manners.
I went in without an appointment, not knowing that in order to see dresses, try them on, and be helped you have to make an appointment before hand. When they realized I was a client willing to spend mony their tune changed in a second! I was helped out and ended up finding my perfect dress. I do admit that they have a huge selection of gowns that you would not ordinarly find in a small city. I was so suprised at how helpful and nice the girl helping me was. She insisted that I no longer look for dresses and take advantage of their sale they had going on! I jumped on it in a second. Little did I know that the sale did not exsist, its just their way of getting you to buy the gown. When you purchase your dress ur asked to pay 1/2 of what the gown cost.
My disapointment came after when I would go back for fitting, they were always rude, and always acted like ppl are out to steal their designs, which technically arent even theirs. Purchasing my bridesmaid dresses was also a nightmare. They force them to pay in full, plus always say they have to rush order everything and charge another hefty price for that, plus if you wear a size 14 and up there is an additional $50 charge. The dresses my braidsmaid got forced to order big were so huge that they could seriously fit 2 ppl in them. Overall if I had to do it again, I would say that I most likely would not go back. Alterations for my dress where ridiculous! I paid about $600 and my dress only had a few inches taken in the waist and bust and a traditional bustle, which by the way fell apart after 1 hr. when the semastress granteed me it would last!

I had a pleasant experience at IBEX until the day before my wedding. I ordered my dress from them and it was cheaper than other bridal salons. IBEX did the alterations and they were fine - not great, considering what I had paid for them. Then - I paid another $100 or so to have the dress steamed. I set an appointment 3 months out to pick up the dress 2 days before the wedding. When I arrived to pick up the dress it had never been returned from the steaming company. After waiting over 2 hours the dress arrived (I was furious at this point). When I opened the dress to confirm it was mine - the smell was overwhelming. It smelled like a dry cleaning plant. It was SO strong I cried at the thought of wearing it at my wedding.
Basically - I would recommend buying from IBEX to save money but once the dress comes in take it somewhere else to be altered and pressed.

I have been visiting Los Angeles to do some shopping for my wedding. My friend recommended Ibex to me. Honestly, I did not expect to see such a nice store in Downtown LA and find such a good quality at very low prices.
Thanks to my friend, I found my dream gown at Ibex! I did order it and was looking forward to receive it. Four months later, UPS delivered my gown. It was nicely packed and I got it in an excellent condition!
My wedding is coming up and I can't wait to wear my gorgeous gown!
Thank you Ibex for such a nice shopping experience!

Life is too short in order to shop forever for your dream wedding gown. You would hear all these horror stories!
I got married 3 weeks ago. I bought my gorgeous wedding gown from Ibex. This operation did everything they promised so efficiently that I have no hesitations recommending them to all my friends. The selection is exquisite and the service is very friendly.
Parking is hard to find on Saturdays, get in there early.

It is the WORST PLACE TO GO SHOPPING for a BRIDAL DRESS!!! They RUSH YOU, TREAT YOU LIKE CATTLE, POOR LIGHTING & PUSH YOU TO BUY FROM THEM!!!! THE WORST BRIDAL SHOPPING EXPERIENCE EVER!!! They dont even have good deals, the same price as EVERYWHERE ELSE. DO NOT GO THERE...I URGE YOU!!!!!
It was about four weeks left to my wedding and I went to pick up my wedding gown from a salon in Beverly Hills. To make a story short, they had ordered a size 6 instead of 16. i was told there is not enough time to get one on time. My choice was to just pick what they had in stock. Very upset I walked out. Called around and my cousine recommended IBEX.
I have to tell you the consultant was an angel. The salon carries over 2000 top designer gowns. I told her my wedding is in a month. She got on the phone for about 1/2 hr. trying to see if she could get the gown I like. Luckily there was one available. Although every salon would have asked for rush charge, I wasn't asked to pay any extra charges. Within a week my gorgeous gown was altered, pressed and ready to go.
I loved the service, everyone was very nice. As far as the price, I did save a lot.
I recommend them very highly!
Earlier this week my daughter and I drove up to LA from SD. We were on the search for the perfect sweet 16 dress. A nice lady by the name of Diana helpped us. We were un sure about the dress so I asked if we could come back on Sataurday to show my husband the dress. It was raining that day, so we left a bit early not knowing what the trafic would be like. We parked 3 blocks away and walked in the rain arriving 30 minutes prior to our appointment. We had no intention on trying to make Diana wait on us early, we just thought we would wait and look through their books to see if our daughter liked any other dresses that she could try on during our appointment. A VERY rude older man took the book out of my hand and told me I could not look at the book. I tried to explain to him that we had an appoint and arrived early from San Diego and that we were just browsing the books. He said no, the only time to look was during our appointment only and to leave. In dis belief I asked him again and he told me to leave again. I told him to let Diana know that we would NOT be returning to purchase our dress from them and he said ""OK"" I'll tell her.
I called Diana and explained what had happen, but by then we were already on our way out, she did appologise, but that did not help us at that point. They need to dispose of that Old man like the trash he treated us like!
I had a referral for them that I retracted.

I had a similar horiible experience as others, I was lucky enough not to order from them. I went with a friend to look at dresses and found one I liked. Of couse it was on sale which ended that day. I was told if I didn't buy it that day, the dress would go up $900!! I was pressured into leaving a non-refundable $100 deposit to ""hold the sale price"". After buying a bridal book and reading the section on gown buying, I realized this store did everything they warned you about. They tore the tags out of the dresses, they refused to tell me the designer of the dress and refused to give me a picture of the dress. I decided to investigate so called about another dress I found by Maggie Sottero. They wouldn't tell me over the phone if they had this dress, and said I had to come in. I went in with 3 print outs of the dress, yet she still made me go through the books and kept telling me they were looking for the dress I had come in for. They never brought this dress and kept telling me they had lost power the night before and their computers were down and didn't know if they had the dress. While I was there I picked the same dress that I had the deposit on and saw that it was still ""on sale"". Disgusted, I wanted nothing to do with this place. Then a week later I get a letter in the mail from them saying they ordered the dress and I owed them the balance. I called them and told them that I never ordered the dress and I refused to pay for it. The salesperson said she needed to talk to the manager and would call me back. She never did. I had my fiance call them back and told them to cancel the dress and we would not be paying for it. They said the order was canceled. STAY AWAY this place is SHADY. If they were like this before I ordered a dress, what would it have been like had I actually ordered from them?

I knew what dresses I wanted to try on, but had a hard time finding them at the stores because they were part of the designers' newest spring line. When I called Ibex, they claimed that they carried every single dress from the 2 designers I mentioned and to come in and take a look. (Lie #1). They did have 1 of the dresses I was looking for, but not 2 of the ones I really wanted to try on, stating that they had sent them to some Las Vegas fashion show. (Lie #2). I ended up loving 1 of the dresses I tried on, and was then told that they were having an anniversary sale that was ending in 2 days. (Lie #3). So the dress would go up by $300 if I didn't buy it during the sale. (Lie #4). Later, I was told that the price of the dress would actually double. (Lie #5). Then I was told that I had to rush order the dress for an extra $120 or else it wouldn't arrive until after my wedding date. (Lie #5). How do I know these were all lies? 2 hours later, I ended up ordering the dress from another bridal shop, and was able to get it for $150 less than Ibex's ""sale"" price, and the dress is set to arrive a month before my wedding date without having to rush order it. I have to mention that I had read the citysearch reviews before I went to Ibex, which was what made me very weary of the game they play there. And, when I first got there, I observed a man behind the counter (presumably the owner) cursing at a customer who was trying to pick up her purchase, and then later snapping very rudely at his own sales person, all in front of customers. They also try to make sure you can't find out the designer of the dresses you try on so that you can't find it elsewhere for less. They literally rip out the tags from the dresses! Take it from my objective viewpoint: I'm not a bitter bride who got screwed after buying my dress here. I am one of the lucky ones who high tailed it out of there! They do not have the brides' interests in mind... so avoid this place!

I just bought my gown at IBEX last week, I walked in and there was a girl and her mother arguing with the people behind the counter who didn't really seem to be helping much...I was nervous. Then Diana, approached me and I told her that I was here for my appointment. I won't go into much detail, except to say that Diana is a miracle. She was a total professional, she had 18 years of dressing brides, and as I picked my 5 to try on (already knowing which I REALLY wanted as I had tried it on in Tucson) she would get excited and add others that suited my tastes. The dress was 200 dollars less than the one in AZ (I thought it would be way more in LA) and unlike most Bridal salons that want 50% now and 50% later, my date is over a year in advance so that seems ridiculous, they are letting my mother make several payments! I couldn't pay anything that day and the manager tried to hard sell me, they couldn't reserve the price etc...but I just called his bluff and told him that we would try to contact them before they closed otherwise, we'd be in touch asap. Long story short I have my dream dress and my mom isn't going to the poorhouse. If you don't mind a bit of working with people, than I highly recommend this store, it kind of adds to the wedding story. But if you are easily bullied stay away. If you do go, ASK FOR DIANA!!! She's fabulous!

This is my first review, but I will be posting more as I go through the bridal gown shopping experience. I'm writing this because I was hoping the other low ratings weren't accurate, but having visited this store, I believe them!
I wanted to try on a particular Maggie Sottero dress in LA (I had seen it in WA) before making my final decision. I was having trouble finding the 2006 dress, but Ibex guaranteed me that they had every dress by Maggie Sottero from 2006-2008 in store because they were a preferred carrier of the designer.
Of course when I went in, they didn't have the dress in stock which was consistent with the ""bait and switch"" comments by other reviewers. They gave me a book that purportedly had all the Maggie Sottero dresses in it and told me to find something else that I liked. When I couldn't find anything, they produced another book of options. When I tried to clarify whether the first book did include all the Maggie Sottero dresses, they said that the first book was $800+ dresses and this book was $600-$800 dresses. (The dress I originally wanted has always been in the latter price range.)
They also tried to pull the ""we're having a sale"" line on me but I had read the reviews and wasn't fooled. I asked how long the sale was on for (wondering if it might be three days), and they said ""Well, for you since we didn't have the dress you wanted, we can just give you a good price if you order the dress soon."" When I asked the price (out of curiousity because it was clear I wouldn't risk buying a dress someplace I didn't have confidence in), the saleswoman actually asked me to name a price for them to beat. Despite knowing that one should never name the first price, this style of bartering for my gown didn't sit well with me so I started to leave. She then said a price which was actually $100 lower than I had seen elsewhere, but ultimately peace of mind is more important than the lowest price for my wedding dress.
Entering this salon is an experience by itself.
Not only gowns, also the italian leather and mink, and knits, and hats... you feel like you are shopping in Milan Italy.
I tell you, they have the largest and the best selection of gowns I have ever seen.
I am extremely happy with my purchase. I recommend them very highly!
Since I had a very short time left to plan my wedding, I was getting very nervous that I might not have enough time to find my bridal gown, accessories and the bridesmaids. Due to the short notice many bridal stores refused to work with me. My friend, who recently got married recommended IBEX to me.
Beleive it or not, only with one visit my wedding was saved!!!! I ordered everything from IBEX, all the dresses arrived on time, they even arranged for fast alterations for me.
THANK YOU IBEX YOU MADE MY WEDDING UNFORGETABLE !
Although we are from San Diego, my cousin made me drive down to Downtown L.A. to get my gown from IBEX. Without a doubt the service and quality is the best. My gown arrived a month early. my maids, my mom, his mom, all the ushers had no complains about the service.
Keep up the good work!!!

when making such an important decision you should not have to worry about anything after you have purchased a dress. as where at ibex after you have purchased a dress and have a contract with them they come back and say they dont have that style or color you selected so you have to do it all over agian. they also minipulate people into thinking there stuff is desiner where it is the same thing i found online for $300 cheaper. ibex has been nothing but trouble for everyone that i know that has shoped there. stay away

This is my 1st time posting, but wanted to warn other brides to be. I wish I had read these reviews before shopping at Ibex. I also was taken in by the ""last day of the sale"" gimmick, and not only bought my dress, but an overpriced veil as well. I also found my dress much cheaper, and the veil for less than half of what I paid. Here are few other experiences I had:
- Was told by the salesgirl to keep costs low, they don't reveal designers until the date you pick up. I called back to question this practice and was told that they never said that and the label probably had fallen out of the dress. When I asked for the designer, they hung up.
-Was told swatches would be sent to me. After three months and 2 follow up calls that were never returned, the 3rd call was the hang up call. I did receive swatches within 2 weeks after that.
-When I called to make an appt to retry the dress, they said I could come in during the week, but not a weekend.
The one good thing was I did get my dress early. Although by this time I had gone to One Night Night Affair and rented a back up. Which I ended up wearing anyway. Avoid this place and the bad attitudes, it is too exhuasting for such an emotional purchase.
