Established in 1889, Los Angeles Department of Recreations and Parks is a general public service agency. Based in Los Angeles, Calif., the department offers a suite of youth services which include day care, preschool recreation and lunch/aquatic programs. Through its Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), the agency also provides free nutritious lunches and snacks to youth aged 1 through 18 at its recreation centers. Its outdoor activities include biking trails, camping, fishing, hiking, kayaking, canoeing and sailing.
