Provided by CitysearchOkay, so I finally went to Cheebo today. My ""pork"" sandwich was great and we were quickly seated for a weekend at 11:30am. Here is where I get baffled: the service was just plain poor. I mean do the owners read these postings or what? Our server finally visited our table after several minutes of waiting and opened with ""what are you having to drink?"" in broken english! I'm not looking for million dollar service, but no smile, no greeting, no welcome to Cheebo. It is a bit high price wise which I can stomach when the service is good. Owners: can the grumpy staff already! Thanks!

Provided by CitysearchI frequently order from Cheebo during lunch hours and I cringe everytime I go to pick up my food. The pick up service is horrible - the guy who usually answers the phone to take your order and who you deal with when you pick things up is rude, rude, rude! But the food is delicious! So I keep going back.

Provided by CitysearchCheebos takes on the role of ""California"" Pizza by creating toppings like mushroom pesto and Sausage and Fennel. They also offer plain cheese or pepperoni, but why not be adventurous? Honestly the thing that makes their pizza stand out is theit crust. It's incredible, most places you stop eating when there's no more topping and create a rind pile three feet high on your table, not here. The crust is so good they sell it by itself on the menu, though it's covered in olive oil and rubbed with garlic. If you're one of those people who don't think pizza is a real meal and don't want to pay 17 bucks a pizza and have it only be a single serving, don't come. You get what you pay for and this is awesme.

Provided by CitysearchMaybe the neg reviews years back indicate there has been a major change in the line up at Cheebo recently. My wife and I have eaten here several times between 2003-2005 and the food and service have always been top shelf and friendly. Atmosphere is very cool while keeping it real, one of the few places in LA that really reminds me of my old life in Brooklyn/Williamsburg NYC. For locals, its a dream hang out. Casual, cool, no pretense, stylish, friendly, kind of like a polished version of my favorite college haunt. All organic and fresh but you would never know - the pizza especially is outstanding and the pork sandwhich. Arrival of Pizza was maybe a tad slow, but hey thats the whole brick oven thing. Their Delivery is still quite slow though. Regardless, this is A list all the way without the Hummer Bling bling crowd.

Provided by Citysearchat last, an honest n good restaurant. so what if the service is sporadic, at least its genuine - not an automated corporate machine. the pizza is wonderful - the crust light, crunchy but chewy inside... and no heartburn, take it from me! have not gone through the whole menu yet, but i look forward to... what i have had has been great! the staff is friendly and the room is warm and lively. alone or with friends, definitely recommended!

Provided by CitysearchAfter hearing good things about this spot, I was really looking forward to eating there, but I was disappointed the moment I walked in for a weekend lunch. After being riff-raffed to a table at the back of the room despite it's being fairly empty by the host, our waitress was really friendly, but that did not make up for the lackluster food. My lunch was mediocre at best, and the menu seemed pretty limited... The dining area in the middle of the room seemed cramped as well. Maybe it livens up at night.

Provided by CitysearchHad dinner ther with a firend from out of town. Food was greasy & not very good. The pasta with porcini mushrooms was especially bad. Prices were very expensive for the quality of the restaurant & atmosphere. It felt like the server was really pushing us to on the up sell items. After we told her we didnt like the pasta dish she said oh yaeh I never would have ordered that! Thanks for telling us!

Provided by CitysearchYoung, hip place serving average food at above average prices. The atmosphere is something out of a club on Sunset. They serve wine by the glass, which costs as much as a bottle of wine. The chips are a good touch at the beginning, but overall I wasn't as impressed as was led to believe. Even the pizza which everyone says is so good, didn't strike a chord with me. For an average meal Cheebo is the place to eat.

Provided by CitysearchThe good news - we were able to get a reservation that same afternoon for dinner. The bad news - they made 5 of us sit at a table for 4. We were told we couldn't add on another table because they were all reserved and they were going to be packed. Well, they were never packed. The ribs, pizza, pasta and salad were all tasty. The cheebo bread and desserts were nasty. DO NOT order the cheebo bread. It was like eating cardboard. The service was horrible. There were ample wait staff/bus boys standing around but no one came by to check on us. Most of the food was pretty good but it wasn't good enough to make up for everything else. I would not go back with so many other restaurants in town.

Provided by Citysearch""Italian comfort food""? Any Italian would smack you if you put this stuff on their table. If Chef Boyardee can give you a whole can of raviloi for $1.50, why does Cheebo have to charge $20 for six tiny ones? Who cares if they have ""red sea salt"" from Hawaii? I could afford a trip to Hawaii if I didn't spend all my money at Cheebo. The only bonus is that you can draw with crayons on the paper tablecoths. For added entertainment, try scribbling down your bill & see if you run out of space before dessert.

Provided by CitysearchThis is way over priced and the food is terrible. I ordered a pizza and a panini and they had to be the worst I have every had. Go spend your $35 somewhere else.

Provided by CitysearchCheebo is an over priced rip off. The prices are too high for what you get and the food is definately not that great!!!

Provided by CitysearchFinally stopped in one Monday night for take out but it was so funky inside and the giant Plasma had MNF on, I had to have a couple glasses of wine while I waited for my GRILLED CHICKEN.
Very cool staff, shotty wine selection but a very eclectic 3 piece euro band made the 35 minute wait pretty fun. The grilled chicken by the way was actually pretty good stuff.

Provided by CitysearchI went to Cheebo with a couple friends and overall we liked it. Great ambience and pretty good food. I had their pizza special that had potatoes, sausage, cilantro and it was quite tasty, while my friends opted for the lasagna and briskett. We all enjoyed the cheebo at Cheebo.
I do have to say the wait staff were going through some of their own drama which customers don't need to see and the walkway is a bit narrow (bad feng shui) but overall it was a cool place.

Provided by CitysearchIt may have been the worst meal I have ever had. I had them deliver me the cheebo supreme sandwich and the baked lasagna. Both were terrible. And way over priced. I definitely do not recommend this place to anyone.

Provided by Citysearchfive minutes after I was seated, I wished I had the job of being a food critic. In the article, I would say ""inviting ambience, homey aromas of pizzas in the oven, but where is the service?"" The food is excellent, but service is a major hit or miss. I almost had a difficult time swallowing my food because of the disappointing service.

Provided by CitysearchCheebo reopened a couple of months ago, an the new version is great. It has indoor seating with a bright decor and great pizzas by the yard. It's a hip, yet fun, place to get yummy pizza and sandwiches.

Provided by CitysearchCheebo is expanding and will re-open in December. They are adding a sit down dining room as well as adding breakfast to their menu.

Provided by CitysearchI think this place has shut down. I went on Saturday 11/2 at midnight and it was closed. I have driven by several other times earlier in the evening and it is always closed.
