Good Machaca Burritos!

I first visited this Burrito King back in the late 80s when I first moved to LA. At the time I didn't have much of a baseline to compare this place to. Where I came from, the closest we got to Mexican food was one of those chain taco places. But this was the real deal, and it was great to discover something more than ground hamburger and salsa in a taco shell. I love the machaca burrito here, and though it may not be the best in LA, it's consistently good.

Great for those Veggies/Vegans wanting a burrito

The beans may be a little dry, but overall I heartily enjoyed my no question veggie-friendly burrito. I love love love Mexican food, but am always terrified I'm accidentally consuming lard or a piece of meat that slips between the tortilla folds. Not here! My jaw dropped when I told the guy I wanted a vegetarian burrito and he said ""What kind? We have two."" What? TWO vegetarian burritos? One of which is actually vegan, the other made vegan very easily. The service hasn't been a problem for me. Dying to try their quesadilla with beans, rice, and avocado.

Terrible, Lazy Attempt at Mexican Food

First of all, the staff has about 3 brain cells between them. They messed up my order, left in things I told them to leave out, and the meat was seriously like rubber. I couldn't even eat it. The beans were really dry too. I've given this place more than one chance because it's so close and the only place in the area. But I'll definitely be taking my late night burrito craving elsewhere.

Next to Mom's...it'll do

While certainly not the best Mexican food around (that accolade goes to my Mom), it is a good late night substitute for those nagging ""carnitas"" cravings.
