Had my first tattoo done here. During my healing time I felt worried about a couple of things and returned to the shop to get some aftercare advice.
It is a real shame that Brian- (the owner) is allowed to deal with customers. For one thing- he won?t treat you like one. Brian instantly assumed I was complaining about my tattoo. Before listening to my questions- he told me that I shouldn?t have got my tattoo in the first place and that I would regret ever having it done- (which is not a nice thing to hear days after being inked) He then went on to tell me that women with my kind of tattoo look `dirty? and can?t get jobs.
After actually looking at my tattoo he said it was `three quarters done? and incomplete
I left the shop feeling extremely upset by Brian- he has no customer service skills.
I now have to find another artist to finish the job properly...

The owner BRIAN is the rudest, sexist and most unprofessional person I have ever come across- someone he has been able to delete my previous reviews and other negative reviews given by others of his extremely terrible attitude. I had gotten my first tattoo from Body Electric and it was a pleasant experience- after a week I went back in for some aftercare advice about some lines that were not properly filled in and was told by Brian that i would regret my tattoo in 5 years time, that WOMEN are unemployable with my kind of tattoo and that the job was only 3/4 done which is why parts weren't filled in. After aggressively throwing down a $100 bill saying ""I just want this problem to go away"" i realised i was not going to get away with this man. Its a shame as everyone else there seems very nice- unfortunate they have to work under someone like that.

I have been to many piercing studios in the Valley (to get pierced and buy jewelry), and had always had mediocre experiences at best. So, when I knew I was ready for another piercing, I decided to do some research before choosing the location this time. All of the reviews I read about Body Electric were exceptional, so I decided to give them a try. It was all true! The minute we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Brian (the shop owner). Although I didn't have an appointment, I was able to see James within 15 minutes, and he was everything that I had read he was! So professional, so sweet, so patient, so accomodating...I could keep going : ) I was REALLY nervous about this piercing, but James explained the entire process to me, and answered ALL of my questions before I even committed to getting it done. They have a great jewelry selection, also, and Brian and James helped me choose the right size and detail for what I wanted. The piercing studio is secluded from the tattoo area, so it's completely private, which I definitely appreciated! Before we started, he talked me through it a little more, so when the time finally came...I was SO at ease. He promised the actual piercing would be over before I could realize what happened. So, while having me do some deep breathing, he pierced me...and kept his promise! It was so quick and easy, James made ALL the difference in the experience. Afterward, he went over care instructions with me (twice!) and even gave me some tips to make the healing process a little more comfortable. James went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable and satisfied, and I would recommend him to EVERYONE who's looking to get pierced. I'm sure I'll want more piercings in the future, and I now I won't be going anywhere beside Body Electric!!

For my first professional piercings, I chose Body Electric Tattoo & Piercing. I've been contemplating these piercings for over a year now, and after much research, I'm overjoyed with my experience. As with previous reviewers, I found James to be wonderful - he was patient, understanding, and approached all aspects of the piercings with great care and clinical precision - it was exactly what I needed considering the nature of my piercings. I appreciated his step-by-step explaination, as well as the on-site disinfecting process. James continually changed his gloves (VERY important to me) and was conscious of gauging my reaction. And most importantly, the skill involved truly lives up to James' rule of ""No guns allowed"".
Wonderful staff, very high-quality jewelry, a definite you-get-what-you-pay-for experience. Now I'm just looking for a excuse for my next piercing.

Seriously skilled Tattoo Artists. From start to finish these guys know how to get it done. I came in with an idea of what I wanted and they made it come to life. Might have been a little more money than expected but it was well worth it.
If you are a local or in from out of town, they are serious about what they do and I would fly back to LA for a repeat.

Had my conches pierced here, and they really know what theyre doing. Very clean and professional! They really take the time to line things up perfect, and get a second opinion from other tattoist/piercer before anything is done.

This place is wonderful. I was looking for a shop to get some regular earlobe piercings for my girlfriend on a Sunday night. I first went to some other tatoo shop on melrose and they directed me to Body Electric.
We had to wait awhile since this place was fully busy on a late Sunday night ! Eventually, Brian came out and did a stellar job of piercing for us. He was very friendly and easy to talk to. My girl was very nervous and he put her to ease right away. She didn't feel a thing.
Now she lovely shiny titanium earrings and we couldn't be happier. We didn't get an tats, so I can't really speak first hand about that. However, there was a cool dude getting some star tats up and down his torso. If I ever decided to get some tats, this would be the first place I would go!

About a month ago decided to get my first tattoo. Wanted a special message done in Japanese Kanji characters. Wanted to get it down on Melrose - - always figured that's where the real pros were; although I didn't want to just walk into some random joint & end up regretting the results the rest of my life. Read a lot of reviews online & by far the most consistently positive ones were for Body Electric.
I can honestly say that the reviews and my experience matched EXACTLY. The staff are really, really friendly and patient. Taka, the artist who worked with me, took a lot of time to help me make sure that I got exactly what I wanted, then he proceeded to do a fabulous job on my tattoo. THANKS BODY ELECTRIC!!!

This place is absolutely amazing! Brian, Taka, James and all of the guys at Body Electric make you feel right at home the second you step inside the shop, not to mention it is the cleanest tattoo piercing shop I have ever set foot in. I am an ad exec so I was in a suit and tie most of the times we met, and they did not make me feel like a square! My tattoo process took a long time, figuring out a design that was perfect for me, but Taka really took his time and created a masterpiece. Something better than the picture I had in my head. I love my new tattoo, and I can't say enough about the staff at Body Electric. There was a fire recently, so the windows are boarded up BUT THEY ARE STILL OPEN!! I just got my tat in late Feb. Thanks Body Electric!

I got my belly pierced a while ago but the first person that did it didn't do it right, so I came here to get it redone. I showed the previous job to James and he fixed it without a problem. They also have a great selection of jewelry. Their rings don't have those ridges on them like most rings that can irritate the piercing sometimes.

I am not what you would consider a 'piercing expert' by a long shot, and will admit that a bit wimpy on the pain tolerance level,,, however, i decided to get my nipples pierced a few years ago and one of them was not done correctly. When i finally got the nerve to have it re-done, i had a very bad experience at the 2009 Tattoo and Body Expo event in Pomona,.... which still left me needing to get the piercing re-done AND in pain. I did some research and found Body Electric and decided to try.
I was beyond nervous but James put me at ease immediately and was very professional, and the piercing is healing much better than i ever dreamed, EVEN considering the previous weekend's trauma inflicted at the expo.
Never thought i would want any other piercings (due to the wimp thing) but am going back tonight to see him and get my next piercing.
I highly recommend him to anyone considering a piercing, he is THE BEST!

Having never pierced my ears with anything but a gun before, i can honestly say i was anxious to get a 10 gauge needle pierced through both my ears. I was not only relaxed by the friendly and personalized service, but i was enthralled as to the extent of their knowledge. If you want good service, a calm PAIN FREE experience, and a piercing u can be proud of, i would highly recommend going here. My piercing was done flawlessly by James, who works on tuesdays through saturdays, but the other guys seem really chill as well.

This studio is just a fun place to go. Cool atmosphere, very friendly people and very professional. I just love my new piercing!
It was my first piercing and I couldn't imagine it to be a better, more relaxed and fun experience. James was great and the minute I left I just knew I'll be back!
Thank you Body Electric!

I would highly recommend this shop all right! I was flying in to LA In Sept. for a short vacation and wanted a ""souvenir"" of sorts. I contacted the shop and Brian wrote me back within the next couple days to let me know they would accommodate my schedule for a new tat while I was in town. The shop is in a more eclectic part of West Hollywood- sort of on the fringe- where you could find just about anything you want, or could imagine. But it was plenty safe. Parking is a bit of a challenge, so be sure to leave a little extra time to scout down a spot in that neighborhood.
The shop is extremely clean and well kept. I loved the attention to detail in the vintage pieces throughout the shop. I am very pleased with my new piece- no doubt this shop pays attention to good talent and it seriously was the fastest healing tat I've ever gotten (this being my 14th). Thanks so much to Body Electric for a fantastic experience!

I recently went to get the ""Marilyn Monroe"" piercing at Body Electric. I found it through the Google search engine under, ""Top piercing parlor in Los Angeles."" Without a doubt, this is the BEST place to get a piercing. As soon as I walked in I was assisted and felt welcome. I was very nervous about the piercing and was sweating, my heart was pumping out of my chest, I was shaking, and just COMPLETELY overtaken with nerves. The owner, who was doing the piercing, immediately made me feel at ease and safe. He sterilized the needles and utensils when I got there opposed to before, so that I saw them being sterilized and knew that they were clean(for 8 minutes). Once in the chair, he was very precise and careful as to where the hole was going to be and making sure that the clamp on my face was exact. IT DIDN'T EVEN HURT!!!! He was extremely careful and calming. He was THE BEST.
Also, I have a tattoo, and was asking him about getting other tattoos. He told me, ""I only hire the best of the best. Not just anyone can work here at Body Electric."" His artists were wonderful, his store was very well put together, and his jewelry was very ""top-shelf"". I refer any and EVERYone to Body Electric. You will be sure to have a great experience.
I've been into Body Electric a number of times and everytime have had great service! Everyone is very friendly and very helpful! I have bought many pierces of body jewelry from Body Electric as they have a very large selection and many custom pieces you can't find other places. James did a surface piercing on each of my wrists which I had already heard were heard to heal. The process was actually quick and not as painful as I would have expected. James is definately one of the most respected and professional body piercers in LA and Body Electric is a very clean and enjoyable environment. My wrist piercings lasted over 2 years and never had any problems! I had to take them out for work reasons but they left little to no scars either. James can do just about any proceedure and I would definately recommend Body Electric over any other piercing shop in LA. I have also gotten tattooed here a number of times and have always been happy with what I recieved!!
I recently got my monroe pierced by the amazing James at Body Electric. Scared, nervous, and a little unsure about getting a facial piercing James approached the situation like that of nothing less than a pro. He was very warm, friendly, and comforting making not only this piercing a breeze but also making him the ONLY piercer I will ever go to. Not only was James a dream to work with, but the staff is a blast and extremely professional. The location and shop itself had a relaxing vibe surrounded by great shopping. I highly recommend James to do any piercing or modification you have in mind he truly is one of the industry's best. He'll leave you walking out of the shop with a job well done and a huge smile every time. :)

I just got my tongue pierced by james a few days ago. I was so nervous and completely freaking out. But James walked me through the whole process and made me feel really comfortable! The actual parlor was immaculately clean and sanitary. They clean and sterilize the tools right in front of you so you know for a fact that they are sterile. I would highly recommend Body Electric to anyone considering a tattoo or a piercing.
I will definitely be going back!

Mike Jones, Mike Jones, MIKE JONES. The best tattoo artist I have ever met! Before discovering Body Electric, I had been a victim of some pretty tragic looking tattoos .... but now they've all been touched up by Mike and they look AMAZING. He puts in a lot of effort and care to give you what you want ... his artwork is so beautiful and realistic AND he's super nice (had a charming southern accent too)! Actually, everyone I met at the shop that day were really friendly and chill .... great atmosphere overall. I'll admit that at first I thought it was a little pricey and I was hesitant to have mine done but now I've realized that they were worth every penny ..... I actually miss the shop and I'm already thinking about when I can come back to get some more ink done! I'm just amazed from the experience I had with Mike doing my tattoos ... I sat for over 4 hours and it was practically painless and I was barely bleeding. My experiences from the other shops can be summarized by a lot of bleeding, pain, and scabbing. Now after only a few days, my tats are barely scabbing, still vibrant in color, and not even sore! So don't waste your time and money on any other tattoo/piercing parlor ... Body Electric is by far the #1 place to go!!
