I'm terribly sorry that some people don't understand the difference between book binding and antique book RESTORATION. The first one is a somewhat easy task that can be done at office depot or staples and, in fact, costs between 5-10 dollars and takes average 5 minutes per book, depending on the complexity.

The second one it a very specialized and meticulous work that can take several weeks or even months to complete, depending on age and level of degradation the book has. It's a very complex process, almost an art, that very few people in the world still have the technique that can bring an antique book, usually very rare or with a significant financial or emotional value to an almost like new condition.

About this place, no it's NOT cheap. If you want cheap, go to staples. Their work is VERY expensive and worth every cent. When you see the before and after, you feel like you paid a bargain price.

They've charged me 150 to restore a book that has a very important emotional value to my husband. A cookbook that belonged to his grandmother and it was printed in 1870.It was falling apart and the final result was beyond impressive. It looked like EXACTLY the same book, but printed the day before.

I checked the price to bind a book with kinkos and staples center, they both gave me a price between 5-9 dollars per book. I checked with A-1 and I was expecting something in the same range. But SURPRISINGLY THEY TOLD ME THEY CHARGE $125 PER BOOK!!!!! WHAT???? I told them the other prices I had, and this lady told me, "well, this is my pricing". Oh well you are binding nothing for me.
