My oldest has been attending this school since first grade (she previously attend the sister school in Bellflower before that). The class sizes are great. She loves all her teachers and staff.
My advice to parents, check out all your school options. Oakwood Academy had a good location, good teachers/staff and good hours. If your child wants to learn and have fun and you as a parent are willing to put in the time it takes ,than this is the school for you

My son has been here since he was two. He will be entering kinder in a few weeks. I absolutely love the school curriculum and extra curricular activities. Since his enrollment we've raved about the school after viewing his academic and social success. We've referred countless friends and family who are now also a part of the Oakwood Family.

The teachers at Oakwood are willing to modify lessons to meet your specific child's needs, and they evaluate them individually on a regular basis

This review is way overdo...I enrolled my now 3 and 4 year children to Oakwood Academy Preschool since they were both 2yrs old. After searching and visiting several schools, I found that this is where I wanted my children to attend. It has been the best decision ever. I have seen my children learn so much. They come home singing songs and talking about their teachers. My husband and I feel very comfortable leaving our children there. The staff has excellent communication skills. Ms Paradise goes above and beyond for her students. My daughter has been fortunate to have her for 2 academic school years. Really wish we can bring her along more years. My son loves Ms Jacinia and Ms Khalifa. He even gets upset if we leave without giving them a hug. Ms Ana is always around helping and engaging with the staff, children and parents. Awesome work Ms Ana. The Director Ms Cathie, is on top of every thing that goes on. She is absolutely phenomenal! If your not sure where to enroll your child, try this place, you'll love it!!!

Just a fantastic School, Teachers and faculty who are there are truly wonderful and caring people. The curriculum is excellent and the children are very well cared for. My Grandson has been there for 2 years and the things that he has learned would never have been learned in a public school. Thanks to all of the faculty for doing such a marvelous job

Communication between the office and everyone else could be better but one just learns to ask more questions and follow up in particular situations. I will be sorry to leave Ms Debbye but am hoping that my next child can have the benefit of her classroom.

The administrator is firm but fair and highly organized

The quality of care my daughter received while at this school was wonderful. Her teacher put so much love and attention into her students. If we hadn't lost my daughters spot...she would still be there!!!!

I have had my two grandchildren with Oakwood Schools for a total of 3 years. As the primary caregiver, I have visited and researched other public/private schools in my area and I feel that I have found the best school that best fits my needs for these children.



My youngest one attends the preschool. The teachers are very caring and concerned. My granddaughter always comes home with fun stories about what's she learned in school.



My other grandchild attends the elementary side. My grandson has one of the best 1st grade teachers ever. I feel she has gone above and beyond her duties to make sure my grandson has the tools and resources he needs to excel. He has struggled in certain areas but with her constance assurance and confidence building he is blossoming into a top scholar. He is happy and looking forward to summer and attending a new fall year at Oakwood Academy.



I'm very pleased with the school and the curriculum and the discipline policy at the school. The office staff are always helpful. Ms. Jennifer is always there to listen to any concerns I may have and we collectively come up with solutions. She is the best, she is not just a Principal but has become a confidant. She cares about the school and the students and it shows.

There are some excellent educators at Oakwood. Teachers that I recommend highly would be Ms. Maritza, Ms. Paradise, and Ms. Debbye. There are other teachers at Oakwood who are good, and some that are truly terrible. Over the years they have done a fair job weeding out the less desirable teachers, and at this point I think the staff is overall acceptable.

I had a great experience when my daughter attended daycare. Every single one of the Oakwood staff were so patient and kind with my daughter. Accelerated her learning and promote her achievements every so often. I will definitely recommend this school.

All four of my children attended Oakwood Academy Preschool and Oakwood Academy Elementary from 2006 to 2014. As an educator myself, I knew what I wanted for my kids. There are positives and negatives at this school, like all schools!

Luckily, every parent has their own opinion. I have had nothing but FANTASTIC experiences with Oakwood Academy! The staff is caring and knowledgeable, the curriculum surpasses most public schools and my child's test scores can prove that! I do have one issue; lack of parking! Visit the school and you will see that they have alot to offer.

Oakwood Academy is a great elementary school if you are looking for a small school with a family feel. There are lots of extra activities for the children to do and the teachers are very caring.

I have worked for Oakwood schools for 4 years now and can tell you this is a safe place for your child to learn and grow! I noticed some of the comments about television and would like to say that our facilities are open from 6-6 & before your child's teacher comes or after they leave to accommodate our 12:1 ratio that we are proud to offer we place the children into groups for a movie. It is never more than an hour. Occasionally it is educational, but the children are in an educational environment all day. We are proud to offer both education and fun! Stop by in the middle of the day & you will find them intently working! I went to the Oakwood schools since I was 2 years old and am now a nursing student at a private university. Invest in your children. Choose private schooling!

I'm a seven year happy parent of the Oakwood family. I actually ended up at Oakwood after a horrific incident with a home daycare. I'm truly proud of the education both of my children received at Oakwood. The educators and administration staff are both pleasant and cooperative. The facility is well maintained and the staff promotes cleanliness with the students.

I have two boys enrolled in this school and they have been there for five years. I must say that comparing to a public school, Oakwood Academy has great academics but also a loving environment. As a parent, i truly appreciate the family atmosphere where everyone knows everyone. Also, i would like to commend the staff for providing the extra security for students. There's nothing I would change about this program. I love it and my kids do too!
