Colin L. Powell Academy for Success is a demonstration school located in Long Beach, Calif. The school educates approximately 1,000 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Founded in 1999, its curriculum includes reading, writing, math, science, social studies, physical education and music. Colin L. Powell Academy for Success has a library that offers a variety of textbooks, storybooks, reference materials, encyclopedias, dictionaries, magazines and newspapers. The school s staff includes guidance counselors, librarians, technology teachers, media assistants, psychologists and speech therapists. In addition, it provides special education classes for mentally and physically disabled students. Colin L. Powell Academy for Success is governed by the Long Beach Unified School District.
