I do not recommend this camp. I sent my daughters there this summer. My 8 year old daughter was in a cabin with a girl who was homesick. She cried every single night, in the middle of the night, and in the wee hours of the morning. Each time, she would poke my daughter over and over again and force her to wake up to listen to her cry. The counselors put the children to bed at night, and drew privacy curtains around their own "little area". This girl would then proceed to get out of bed and cry and go bed to bed not allowing ANYONE to sleep. My daughter is nice, so she would end up being the one who stayed up with this girl until she fell asleep. Then again, in the middle of the night, this girl would come back, again, crying. My daughter said she would try to pretend she was asleep so this girl wouldn't wake her up again, but this girl would poke her over and over again until she woke up. She would then proceed to cry and cry and not let my daughter sleep. Then AGAIN, in the wee hours of the morning, it would HAPPEN AGAIN. My daughter asked the counselors for help over and over again. Every single night she asked them for help. Their response? "sorry there is nothing we can do about that". They would sleep all night long, AND MY DAUGHTER WAS FORCED TO BE UP ALL NIGHT LONG WITH THIS GIRL. My daughter went to camp to be a CAMPER. Instead, she was forced to do the job of her counselors. I am heartbroken and disgusted. I am going to take this issue to the highest levels of the YMCA, bc this is in essence, bullying. This is NEGLECT. This is an example of a camp who clearly does not invest in hiring quality staff. I would not recommend, as i cannot tell you your children will be cared for at this camp. Mine certainly WAS NOT.
