Drove down from Omaha on a Sunday. Waited for over 20 mins. to make eye contact with anyone behind the counter--then was told that I needed to sign in. There was no place indicating I needed to sign in, and the counters were surrounded with people trying to be served. I was then told I couldn't adopt because they cut off adoptions 30 minutes prior to closing, and there were only two minutes before their cut off time. I waited another five minutes for someone to escort me into the room with the animals I wanted to see. I asked her how much it cost to adopt guinea pigs, and she didn't know. It wasn't posted anywhere, so perhaps they make it up as they go along. The customer services all around was horrible, and the attitude of the woman behind the desk who decided I couldn't adopt the animals I drove 50 mi. to see, simply because she was blindly adhering to rules, after all staff did their best to ignore me. Rudeness is more important than animal welfare, apparently.

The friendly, knowledgeable staff at the Capital Humane Society made our adoption of two kittens a very positive experience. They provided us with all the background and health information they had on our new family members and patiently answered all our questions.
