A very nice, unassuming restaurant. From the outside, you do not expect it to be as warm, and as neat as it is on the inside. The restaurant has a really cool, traditional Zashiki side(low tables, no shoes, you sit on cushions on the floor)then another side for the Teppanyaki (grill in the middle of large tables that will sit up to 16) The cook, and server were both very friendly, and the food was outstanding. Quite large portions for the price (steak and chicken Teppanyaki nets you rice, noodles, vegetables, steak, chicken, and a few shrimp for under $20) the sushi was very good, and my party of four had a great time, and had plenty of food for leftovers.

Awesome Japanese Food

I've tried quite a few Japanese steakhouses in the Overland Park area and in other cities. Shogun is the best. The service is outstanding, very friendly. Their teppanyaki chefs are really good and entertaining. But the star here is their food. They have the best seasoned food out of all of the Japanese steakhouses I've eaten at. And a pleasant surprise at this place is their sushi. They make really good sushi!! I always order a sushi roll, and they bring it right out. I've tried their steak, lobster, chicken, shrimp, and their scallops. Everything I've ordered has been excellent. Also they are very affordable compared to most other Japanese Steakhouses. Fun for a goup, a family, or a couple.

fun and tasty

Shogun is a fun place to take the kids. The chefs cook your food in front of you. The meals are served with so much food which includes a soup, salad, shrimp and your choice of steak, chicken, shrimp, lobster, crab or a combination of any. The only drawback is it can be a bit pricey, as most meals are in the $14-19 range. It's a place we go to on special occasions.
