Recovery And Hope Network (RAHN) is a place where people can find hope & a secure base, to expand on their personal empowerment & find an accepting community, as well as address the complex issues of self medicative substance abuse. We provide peer support, referrals & information to adults actively working on recovery from mental health &/or addiction issues. We're a Consumer Run Organization in Lawrence, KS which means our Board of Directors is made up of people who can relate to our members from first hand experience which creates a unique & inspiring atmosphere in itself. We are a drug, alcohol & violence free organization. We understand members may have slips and don't require a certain amount of sobriety before you're welcome to join us; however you do need to be sober when actually participating at RAHN. RAHN also works with a variety of community partners to provide education & advocacy. Churches, nonprofits, businesses, social clubs, & other groups are welcome to contact us about ways RAHN may be able to assist you, including: * Presentations & workshops designed to eliminate the myths of mental illness as well as help reduce the discomfort people sometimes feel around those with mental illnesses * Assistance increasing the effectiveness of guidance, support, & understanding already be provided to friends, family, & other members with mental illnesses * Brochures, handouts, & other practical education tools * Referrals to social services & resources in Douglas County We believe interdependence is important as all have struggles they need help with as well as gifts they can share regardless of issues with mental health &/or addiction so we focus on what we can do, rather than on what we can’t. We take pride in what we do & who we are, escaping the isolation & shame that has surrounded mental illness for centuries. A variety of weekly support groups are led by trained peer facilitators who emphasize recovery & hope are always possible, offerings vary based on members’ desires & availability ~ please call, email, or stop by for more information on current programs which could include: * Planning for Wellness * Dialectical Behavioral Therapy * Planning for Wellness + (with Addiction) * Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction * Pathways to Recovery * Hearts of Gold Unlimited developed by RAHN Board of Directors member Dale Beaulieu, MS, CVT Additionally we offer other regularly scheduled activities, such as: Healthy Cooking Club, Gentle Yoga, Exercise Class, Men’s Conversation Group, Women’s Support Group, Art Expressions, as well as cards & games. We also share special events such as: potlucks, movies, shows, sporting events, fishing/camping trips, museum tours, & more. We are only able to serve residents of Douglas County although people who are homeless are welcome as long as they are staying in the county limits. There are no fees for services but a basic membership form needs to be filled out - all information will be kept confidential! Members who have insurance may be asked to provide that information in the future as we're fortunate to be exploring opportunities which could qualify some of our members to lead groups which certain insurances would pay for. No one will be turned away for lack of coverage or inability to pay, though! Sustaining our organization almost entirely through volunteer efforts can be challenging & donations are gratefully accepted from the community - money, time, services, goods, etc!
