We stopped here at 4 in the morning to rest after driving all night and were exhausted. My husband claims the front desk staff was rude to him and, before we even opened our room door, we heard a couple next door screaming at each other and things banging. The room smelled terrible, the shower barely worked,and the shower curtain was moldy. After realizing the crazy couple was going to continue arguing, we requested and were given a "nicer" room... only we found what looked like a bed bug crawling on the toilet seat (will try to attach photos). When we brought the key back and said we were leaving the staff acted surprised that we found bugs in "209", as if it wouldn't be a surprise in another room. We thought we were being nice by not demanding a refund but later noticed two separate room charges on our credit card. How can a place like this even be allowed to stay open?? The only good experience I had was in speaking with the Customer Relations representative at choicehotels.com, who has opened a case for me (albeit with no guarantee that the management at Lavonia will comply).
