I am Karen Alexander - weaver, spinner, dabbler in fiber arts of all kinds. I carry and work with beads, buttons, yarns and threads, fibers and fabrics - even stones and driftwood. All natural and beautiful things fill my head with ideas. I live where hills overlook the Mighty Mississippi River and eagles soar over cloud-shadowed hills. The morning mists dance on the water and midnight stars seems close enough to touch. I dream of making beauty, inspired by the beauty all around me. Riverwood Studios on Main Street in Lansing, Iowa, is home to BigRiverButtons.com. I order and sell any and all available buttons from Blumenthal/Lansing Button Company and JHB International Buttons. It is also where you will find me weaving, spinning, knitting and playing with beads, buttons and threads. I sell great yarns, beautiful buttons, beads of all kinds, and books and magazines (old and new) to inspire new ideas. Bring in your current project and "sit a while" either working, sharing or learning. I am passionate about educating people about the fiber arts and especially love helping children and young ones learn a time honored craft and create a special project they will cherish for many years to come.
