My Uncle was a resident here for 6 months and recently passed away. I LOVED the Windsor. Yes, they have a high turnover, but show me one place that doesn't. Yes, they did win an award for best ALF....but tell me if this place is so bad, then I dont want to know what the other are like. The Windsor staff were GREAT to my family and my Uncle. They worked with us to allow Hospice come in and help care for him, so that we would not have to uproot him to a Hospice house. In the days before his death, both administration and staff came to see him and they we supportive to us all. During his stay (even before he became gravely ill), they were accomodating and helpful. You can not please EVERYONE all the time, but they do their best. My Uncle was not the most accomodating person, but they bent over backwards to please him. They did not tell him to leave, they asked him WHAT CAN WE DO FOR YOU. Now tell me of any other place would do that? I give the Windsor and its staff 5 stars!

My mom has lived at The Windsor in Lakewood Ranch since it opened, almost two years ago. She calls The Windsor "home" and prefers to be there rather than at my house. Our experience has been positive and we have not had any problems with administration or staff. Mom didn't need assistance when she moved in but needs some now. The staff are very kind and she is happy with the services that are provided. I did shop around before mom moved to the Windsor. The rates are no more expense than other assisted living buildings in Bradenton or Sarasota. We have had one increase since we moved in and it averaged about 7%. I am sure it must be very difficult to please 80 residents and their families! No one ever writes the positive stuff, so I am. We love The Windsor!

My gr mother no longer resides at the Windsor of Lakewood Ranch. Be wary of the sugar sweet reception you'll receive before you sign. The most important feature of an assisted living is compassion and true concern for the residents. The Windsor at Lakewood Ranch fails miserably in this regard. Do not move a loved one into this facility unless you don't mind uprooting her again. The problem seems to be the administration. This is an organization that cannot keep employees, a very telling sign of an organization poorly run. As has been mentioned, the turnover is constant, there is no chance to build a relationship with one's caregiver. I don't care if the facility looks nice, does it act nice? Talk to residents and employees. Check out other facilities in the area, talk to the residents and employees. All 3 Windsors supposedly won "the best facility" award (each displaying a banner), how can that be? Sounds fishy to me. No one knows until they've lived there

Beautiful to look at, but read the contract very carefully before signing.

We moved my 87 year old grandmother in to this facility 9 months ago. We were told the rent amount would stay the same for one year, then could increase between 4% and 10%. After 6 months, they raised the rent 25%. Being the verbal statement about the rent increase was never written into the contract, they will not honor it. Be very careful when signing the contract. Have EVERYTHING they tell you in writing.

Looks nice on the outside, but make a careful examination of the inside before deciding

This assisted living facility is beautifully done and well-maintained on the outside. However in the 6 months since my mother-in-law has been there they have had 3 directors and 3 licensed nurses. Management does not respond to expressed concerns in the manner they detail in their hand book and our mother-in-law's monthly rent was just increased by 25% -- which amounts to several hundred dollars. She is not the only one to experience such a rate hike. The quality of their service does not match the cost of their care. I would advise anyone looking to place a loved one in this place that they should keep looking....at the very least ask very detailed questions and request responses in writing BEFORE you sign.

Good quality for the price

My Mother moved to the Windsor from her home on the east coast. She was so worried that she would not know anybody and that she would lose her independence. It is just the opposite. She has made wonderful friends, and the staff treats her like family. She is more independent because she has transportation on the bus and in the Windsor car. Shopping and going to Doctor's appointments has been made easy. Mom loves the exercise class and all the crafts classes. She is so happy!

The best decision I ever made!

My parents are living there and I am very happy with the care that is given. They love it there and it is wonderful knowing my parents are well taken care of.

Beautiful Assisted Living Facility, but lack of staffing and expensive for what you get.

A large turnover of staffing makes it difficult for the residents to function. Has been through 3 directors in 1 year, 3 nurses in 1 year and also different chefs. Not to mention the turnover in CNA's. Lack of communication with the office also makes it difficult to get information. Also, a number of times when I call in a recorder comes on. There just does not seem to be any organization which is so very important because they are not just dealing with the residents but the residents family as well. Also, peep holes in the doors would be a plus for the residents to see before they answer the door. You can never be too careful. Also, no snacks are offered that I can see that were offered in the brochure. If you have a loved one and are looking at this facility, please ask other residents what they think and above all go for a meal, you will not be impressed. Rooms are beautiful better than I have seen elsewhere, but other things may be more important before making decision.
