Getting to Know: Dr. Manuel Molina Dr. Manuel Molina has practiced Surgical Oncology since 2007. He specializes in surgical treatment for benign and malignant processes in the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, bile ducts, colon and rectum, thyroid and parathyroid, adrenal gland, and melanoma and sarcoma surgery. “Medicine and surgery have always been my passion since the day I decided to get into this career,” Dr. Molina said. “I don’t see myself doing anything else if I had the opportunity to do it again. I like to transmit that passion to my patients by always feeling happy for what I do and by always looking to give the best care possible.” What is your patient care philosophy? The patient’s well-being and safety are my first priority. I believe that each patient is an individual and deserves a personalized approach to their disease. We see each patient as a whole, accounting during their treatment for his or her emotional, physical, mental, social and spiritual needs. What would you like people to know about you as a physician? I am determined to provide the best care possible based on quality and evidence-based medicine. Why did you decide to become a physician? During high school, I became fascinated with the human body in science class and wanted to understand it better. What do you enjoy most about working with patients? Seeing patients recover without complications and going back to their families and their normal lives, especially when we can call the treatment curative, is very rewarding. What else would you like to share with patients? My team and I like to be approachable, maintaining an open communication with patients and family. What are some interesting facts about you? I love to help whenever I can. I enjoy time with my family. I am always looking to be better at what I do. With what community and volunteer organizations are you involved? I help with several Catholic Church ministries. Tell us about your family. They are my most precious gift and my inspiration to be a better person and doctor every day. What childhood memory do you have about visiting the doctor? In my family, most people are doctors, and I remember having no fear of going to the hospital to see them when I was sick, feeling happy to see my uncles and aunts in a white coat. It was an overwhelmingly positive feeling knowing that the people who played with me and shared good times with me would also make me feel better when I was sick.
