The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Finance Department processes and records all financial transactions that occur in the divisions and departments of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, along with those that occur in the Parish's component units whose financial records are maintained by the division of finance. The department invests available monies in legally approved investment options. It prepares monthly in-house financial statements on all operational funds, assists management in financial statement analysis and in other financial matters and performs payroll functions that include filing all applicable payroll tax and retirement reports. The department provides cost analysis on the issuance of long-term debt and compliance with federal, state and local mandates and responds to questions by third-party creditors concerning the Parish s financial condition.
