Firehouse Animal Health Centers is an Austin-based veterinary hospital group that first opened in a 100-year old neighborhood fire station. Under the leadership of Dr John Faught and Dr Jed Rogers, Firehouse is a pioneer in Central Texas veterinary care. In their many years working together, they have cultivated an experience that truly feels like a neighborhood firehouse safe, reliable, friendly, and passionate about the needs of its community.

We previously trusted Firehouse, but due to gross over-charging and the death of our puppy we will NEVER use this vet again. We took our 8 month old puppy there after she got into medication. After minimal treatment from Firehouse:
Consulting poison control $157.45
Nausea medication Cerenia $64.97
IV fluids $103.40
Hospitalization from 7:30am-5pm $169.20
CBC blood work $90.40
Vet scan bloodwork (98.70 twice) $197.40
Blood pressure twice $72.00
Exam $55.00
Total $909.82
She was released saying she'd be fine. Under 30 minutes later she was having difficulty breathing, we called and were told it was probably congestion. 30 minutes later we were rushing her to Austin to the emergency vet. The ER took every action they could to save her.
ER Fee $40.00
Exam EC-Referral $28.00
Hospitalize ICU Level 2 Per/Shift $24.30
ECG Telemetry per 12hrs $29.23
Electrolyte Panel In-House Idexx $40.40
Radiology/2 Views $174.10
IV Cath Replacment $41.50
Coagulation Panel (PT&PTT) $121.00
Propranolol HCL 1mg/ml per ml $28.90
Acepromazine 10mg/ml $30.02
Lidocaine 20mg/ml $40.04
Furosemide 50mg/ml $31.32
Furosemide CRI Syringe Pump 50mg/ml $50.88
Blood Glucose Multiple Glucometer $15.00
PCV&TS $21.00
Nasotracheal Oxygen Tube Placement $45.30
Oxygen Via Nasal Tube q4hrs $20.00
Lidocaine 20mg/ml Fluid Additive $10.44
Enrofloxacin 22.7mg/ml $49.43
Unasyn (Ampicillin Na/Sulbactam Na) 30mg/ml $42.49
Ind. Cremation $207.90
Total $883.35 ($1091.25 inc. cremation)
The ER vet didn't charge for CPR they performed or contacting poison control. There's no way to know what might've been if Firehouse had performed chest x-rays or given Propranolol to counteract the medication ingested. But we do know she received minimal care at maximum cost at Firehouse Animal Health Center.
