Dr. Thomas Boland joined Northeastern Eye Institute after service in the U.S. Air Force. He practices in our Scranton, Forty Fort, and Wilkes-Barre offices. Dr. Boland is the third generation of his family to practice ophthalmology in Northeastern Pennsylvania and he specializes in treating diseases of the cornea, LASIK and refractive surgery, and cataract surgery. Dr. Boland received his bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton and was awarded his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Georgetown Medical Center, and his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Boland is the former Chief of Ophthalmology at Keesler Air Force Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi. He later completed a fellowship in Corneal and Refractive Surgery at University Ophthalmic Consultants of Washington, DC. Dr. Boland has extensive experience in corneal transplant surgery, and has performed thousands of LASIK and other refractive surgeries. Dr. Boland is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology.
