OK why go to a local hardware store when the big stores are "cheaper"? Here's a prime example, yesterday (Sat. Nov. 26, probably one of their busiest days) I rent a chipper to clean up some storm damage, they were $25 more to rent than the box store. But let me tell you why you can't put a price on it. After getting the chipper (almost new and in great shape) I had a small issue with it. I called the store and explained the situation. They gave me a solution over the phone but I did not feel comfortable with it. Without hesitation they said they would send someone over to my house. Ten minutes later Tom, a co owner shows up to address the problem and I was back in business. Now if I had saved $25 and made that same call, I would have had to haul the chipper back to Middletown to have them look at it and probably lose atleast two hours of my day. Hats off the Killingworth True Value. My story of buying a chainsaw from them is equally as rewarding, Jim could not have been better.
