The Cowlitz County Corrections Department is a criminal justice agency that provides progressive correction services. Located in Kelso, Wash., the department offers probation services, including indigent assessment, presentence investigation, deferred prosecution monitoring, stipulated continuance and providing direct referrals to community resources. It operates an offender services division that provides electronic home monitoring, day reporting, pretrial release supervision, inmate and counseling services. The Cowlitz County Corrections Department maintains a jail division that offers food, medical response, commissary and volunteer services. In addition, the department operates a drug court that provides effective drug and alcohol treatment for nonviolent and sex offenders. It coordinates a community service program that serves lower court offenders.
