Arlene was hired by my landlord to rent an apartment. I expressed a desire to rent the apartment and was contacted by Tamara the receptionist. After seeing the apartment, we discussed the terms of rental. The rent was very resonible and I was advised that heat was included in the rent, this sealed the deal for me. I went to the office to meet Arlene and sign a lease. Arlene and I went through the lease line by line and I signed a lease that reflected the rental terms. Once the fall came, I noticed my gas bill had increased signifigantly. I contacted the gas company to find out why and was advised that I was indeed being charged for heat. After bringing up this concern with my landlord, I spoke with Arlene whom advised me that her office had made a mistake. The heating costs were not to be included in the rent. Arlene had misinformed me about the heat and I signed a lease that reflected her mistake. Arlene told me I could move or pay for heat myself. I am very knowledgable of the law and I contacted my lawyer. My lawyer sent Arlene a letter and the very next day, Tamara called me to let me know that they would indeed pay for my gas. She advised that I would be reimbursed for my heating costs. I faxed Arlene copies of my gas bill on a monthly basis and once I had completed a year in my apartment I contacted Arlene about reimbursement. I called her office several times and each time I was told she would call me back. I was even told she would send me a letter. I contacted Arlene via email to let her know I would be suing her. She sent me a letter that says she will not be paying for my personal gas usage. I was very confused by this letter because this is not what she agreed to. She stated I need to take this up with my landlord, calling it a tentant/landlord dispute.

Arlene is dishonest and has unethical business practices. She should be ashamed and embarassed for making such a mistake and also for not taking responsibility.
