Founded in 1982, Eagle Steel Products is the first minority-owned and operated strip steel processing facility in the United States. The company offers barge stevedoring, coil de-canning, warehousing, slitting, cut-to-length, pickling, leveling, coil inspections, logistics and reworking. In 1986 the company made the announcement of intentions to move its operation from an inland site in Louisville, Ky., across the Ohio River in Indiana at the Port of Indiana s Clark Maritime Center located in Jeffersonville, Ind. This not only allowed the company to process strip steel but also to participate in barge, rail and truck transportation. It features an 80,000-pound coil capacity. In 1998, the processing facility achieved QS-9000 and the warehouse facility achieved ISO-9002 from Global Registrars. In 1999, Eagle Steel was certified to Third Edition of QS9000.
