I has a gold crown put in my mouth last year by Dr. Childree because the filling was failing. He did so without disclosing the cost. I nearly fainted when I was asked to pay $900.00 at check out. I think any procedure this expensive should be disclosed to the patient in advance !!! A crown I had put in by another dentist in Kennesaw, GA 9 mos. prior was much,much, much less expensive. I had serious nerve and sensitivity problems after the crown was glued in that lasted for nearly 6 mos. I have not been back.



Dr. Childree has now retired and a new husband and wife dentist team own this practice. From what I have heard from friends and neighbors, nothing much has changed regarding the practices of not disclosing costs to a patient in advance of treatment. Be aware.

I can understand the shock of the patient when these charges were presented to her. However, I want to assure everyone that we belive in full disclosure before treatment is initiated. In almost every case, patients are presented with a written copy of the treatment plan, cost, and insurance coverage. These underlying principles are part of informed consent. As for the cost, we charge no more than the usual and costumary cost on any procedure. As a patient, I would always recommend that if you have concerns, please be up front and feel free to ask anything at anytime. After all, it is your mouth and your decision. I would hope that all would call with confidence that we treat everyone the way that we wish to be treated.
