Years ago I watched as homes were being built near me, and noticed all the homes were not trenched on the outside along the house perimeter per NC law. They are supposed to be trenched, to the footers, drenched with chemical for termite prevention, and back filled......they were not. The ground was soaked and that was it. No trenching to get that chemical deep in the house foundation perimmeter.

I called last month for exterminating pests in a rental property I own. The girl on the phone promised one of the techs would make an appointment with my tenant. When no bill arrived I checked with the tenant who thought I had forgotten because no one ever called.

I contacted Modern Exterminating again and relayed my disappointment. The person on the phone could find no record but promised to have it taken care of immediately. Once again she took all my billing information. It has been three days now.

My husband and I will be canceling our contract with them.

DO Not Use Them. Not dependable.

their Mosquito service is great......I saw a flyer for mosquitoes last year and thought I'd try it, A-mazing!!!! we sat outside and enjoyed all summer long, I felt the first mosquito this year and plan on getting their spray again, it is worth every penny! No OFF needed

I recently used Modern Exterminators in Jacksonville, NC, and I will NEVER use their service again. They came on a Friday to spray for roaches and other bugs that we were seeing in the summer months. They sprayed inside and outside our house and charged us $80. Everything was good until Saturday night when we caught our dog (sheltie) licking the wall. We started to put him in the cage when we couldn’t watch him. Then he started to throw up that night! We put him outside and he started to eat grass like it was candy. Modern Exterminators reassured me twice that the spray was “pet friendly” so I figured it would be fine for them to spray inside. I know it is not good for my dog to be licking the chemicals off the carpet, but I feel as if they should have given me more information on what chemicals they were using and to keep pets and small children AWAY from it. It was a Saturday night so I couldn’t call them to ask what the chemicals were to tell the vet. They discounted us only $25! We don’t feel like they really CARE about their customers. They just want to make $$$. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. I advise you to SAY AWAY! Go somewhere that actually cares about your family, and who you can trust! If anyone has used any SAFE exterminators in the Jacksonville area let us know. Good luck.

Just had them out, they are overpriced and not at all thorough. Called out another company, was $200 cheaper and found stuff Modern missed in their quote.

Don't use them. I had them come out for a quote and when I was told how much I to,d the exterminator it was a lot at the time he said I could make payments but I never told him I wanted the service. He went to his truck and wrote up a piece of paper and had me sign on the hand written "X" I didn't know I was signings contract. All it has is the name and address of the company and my address written in and the "x" I moved Way and started getting bills so I called the offc and told them I didn't want the service they said ok and that was that. I kept getting bills and kept calling confused as to why when I told them I didn't want the service not one if them told me they weren't authorized to write it off the owner was. I found that out when I asked to speak to the owner. He told me I was responsible for it because I signed it and he was standing by his exterminator that he knew better than to have me sign if I didn't want the service. There's nothing I can do but pay them the owner Charles knows no one is wiling to go to small claims court. I know I'm not the first or the last this will happen to. I told the owner that I called every month I kept getting a bill and told them I didn't want it and they led me to believe it was taken care of. Even went so far as to have the offc manager put me on 3 way with the exterminator who also said well if she doesn't want it then cancel it but when I told the owner he said he would talk with them. But this same exterminator who knew best according to the owner, apparently didn't know he couldnt make that call on my account because it never went away. After a few minutes of trying to work this out the owner told me that he had explained to me what was gonna happen and that he had someone waiting for him for 10 min already so he was basically telling me to deal with it. I felt like that was completely rude and unprofessional I had been waiting several months trying to sort this out. Lesson learned but they won't give me service either until, it's paid in full.

I had a contract with this company to inspect my property once a year for infestations in order to maintain a foundation warranty. I paid them in summer last year and after at least 20 phone calls they never came to inspect the property. Now that it is spring, I was conducting my own inspection and discovered termites. Thank you for not holding up your end of the deal. This is what we call breach of contract and you will be hearing from me shortly.

I have them spray monthly, and while most of the time that takes care of it. I hate that if I *do* have a problem it takes several days for them to come and spray again.
