Lauren Page Black, M.D., M.P.H. is an assistant professor in the department of emergency medicine. She completed her residency in emergency medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville, where she was chief resident. She subsequently completed a fellowship in acute care and emergency medicine research, also at UFCOMJ. Dr. Black earned her medical degree with honors from UF in Gainesville, and was the recipient of the John Gorrie award recognizing the graduating senior student who shows the best all-around promise for becoming a physician of the highest type. Between her clinical years in medical school, she obtained a master's degree in public health from the Harvard School of Public Health. Her degree program was in global health with a concentration in humanitarian studies, ethics and human rights. Her research interests include vasopressor use in the management of septic shock and predictors of organ dysfunction in sepsis. Her work is funded by a KL2 from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and hanging out with her dog, Chase.
