I needed a remote starter so that my brain injured son would have a warm/cold van to ride in as he has great difficulty regulating his body temp. I had the (Mopar) remote starter recommended by (Chrysler), Deery Brothers put in to the tune of $800. I Tried the starter out before I left the lot. Didn't heat. I had the service associate, and Mark Kavala the service manager, (later) come to the van. She told me that she could hear the heater working by listening to the engine. She put her hand on the vents and said that she could feel something even though the dash heater controls were not lit, the fan was not working and there was no heat, stating that that was all I could expect. With the van still on the lot, she was telling me that I could expect nothing. Kayala disagreed, saying "We need to fix that." He has not.
A series of emails followed:
Kavala promised that we would be "COMPLETELY SATISFIED" after our experience at Deery's.
(Later) Kavala-"it does work as designed."
(Later) Kavala: Stated that "there's no way that I can reuse the remote starter after it's installed"...(i.e., I'd need to pay for it, not Deery.)

I took the van to Brown's Chrysler in West Branch a few days ago to see if they were able to get the starter to heat. One-and--a -half hours later the van now starts and the heater runs. Brown charged us another $130 bringing the total for the remote starter to $930. What did Brown's do to get it working? They did a SOFTWARE UPDATE AND A RELEARN. Seriously.

And, to top it all off...the service coordinator at BROWN'S TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD HAVE INSTALLED IT NEW FOR $500. Note to self: buy your next Chrysler at Brown's. Don't let Deery's touch it.

The salesman who helped me was very kind and professional but the car but they refused to negotiate at all on price. I know I overpaid for the car but agreed because I like it a lot. One thing I can say is do go not through their finance department. They claim to get you "the lowest rate available." I was set up with a terrible credit union. I called another bank to refinance and the FIRST PLACE I called gave me an interest rate half of what their placed offered. Highly recommend looking for your own outside financing. Also do not purchase their gap insurance. It is extremely difficult to cancel. It took me almost 2 weeks of runaround to be finally be able to cancel the gap insurance.
