I have had the great misfortune of having Charles Reeder assigned to handle my late father’s probate.

This is the last person I’d ever recommend to handle anyone’s legal matters.

He consistently over billed my family in every way imaginable. Then he tried to hide it by burying his bill—without his name being revealed— in BMO Private Bank’s partial distribution authorization documents my family was required to sign in order to receive some of our money.

Though my father’s estate consisted of only one checking account and CD at a local bank, one investment account, and some life insurance, Mr. Reeder referred it to a friend at BMO Private Bank in Chicago for financial management. She promptly charged us $40,000.00. up front, to transfer Dad’s accounts to BMO. The $40,000.00 only covers financial management of the estate. Everything else to do with the probate is extra.

The billable hours Mr. Reeder submitted for his services could best be described as a creative fictional extrapolation.

For example, he billed us several hours of his time—at $375.00 per hour—for printing out two routine, single page, fill-in-the-blank documents. Paralegals routinely do this for the attorneys in their office, not the attorneys. My son’s an attorney.

So far, Mr. Reeder and BMO Private Bank have already plowed through $60,000.00 of my dad’s money doing nothing more than the routine things comprising any probate costing far, far less.

According to BMO Private Bank, we are only halfway through the time we’ll have to wait before they’ll close the estate and finally allow us to have whatever’s left of our money.
