A once decent gun shop and range that has consistently slid to be the second worst shop in the Indy area. Only Don's is worse in both price gouging and poor customer service than this hole. Any other shop in the Indy area will be a better choice than here. The only people who get treated decent and are given good prices at Pops are police officers. They treat everyone else like crap. Also the range is falling apart and there are usually 2-3 lanes that are out of service at any one time. AVOID!!

unethical business practices

I see I'm not the only one, judging by the reviews. I have never given a bad review like this before, but the outright deception and lies I heard from the staff was unbelievable. My brother and I walked in and stopped at the full frame handgun counter were the older man made the statement( at least your looking at a real gun) I tried to ignore him and walked on around the corner and asked a younger man if he stocked any subcompact/ pocket pistols he said (no because nobody makes a good one) I replied I know a lot of people that have Ruger LCP/LC9 and like them. He said well let me show you one as he pulls up a picture on his phone of a lcp that was damaged.he added that Ruger was stopping production because they were unsafe! Wrong! They've had one recall that I've seen that came out shortly after the introduction in 2008, problem fix! If Ruger stops this model after 5 years and hundreds of thousands it would be for a new model only! As far as their being (no good ones built) if John Browning was around I'm sure he'd disagree, some 100 years after the fact. Besides he never asked me what I needed it for? And when I told him I carried a SIG SAUER P238 basically a mini/1911 he said that's an alright gun. As a salesman myself, you don't give out bad info and lie just to make it look like you know your job! I could go on, but don't waste your time on this place. check out, Fields outdoor adventures in Rushville or Bite The Bullet north of Seymour on hwy 31

If there was a negative star, I would have given it that one. This place is the worst. I went in to buy a gun or two, and the old man kept trying to get me to buy something I didn't want, and then treated me like a dumba$$. Most of the staff in there are rude and arrogant, I'm not sure how that place is still in business? I went to a shop in Plainfield and not only did I purchase two guns, the ones I actually wanted, but I got them for at least $150 each cheaper than at POoP's. I'll never buy anything from them and if anyone asks, I'll tell them to buy somewhere else. The old man with the cane behind the counter, well, he's a pr!ck!!

They Didn't Want My Business

I walked in with cash in my wallet and was looking for a Benelli Supernova or Browning BPS or a quality used gun. After being told bluntly "No" to both of those options the guy just walked off. It was obvious they wanted me to leave and take my business elsewhere.

So I did. I went to beech grove firearms next that day. I found a good deal on a used AL390 and bought it. I watch gunbroker alot and their prices are as close as you'll find in a brick and mortar store. And they greeted me with a smile and a hello. Friendliest gun store I'd been in for this area. When I move here next year this is where I'll be making firearm purchases.

Stay away/Avoid! A few years ago, my wife & I went after work to purchase a handgun for her I saw there while over on the East side. When we arrived they were not busy at all, & yet, we were ignored completely. After standing there for over 10 minutes, two guys walked in who the old man behind the counter, who had ignored us the whole time, knew by name & proceded to wait on. When I finally got his attention I told him I wanted to see a certain gun when he had time. He just kind of muttered something & walked over by the holsters. My wife wanted one of those as well & asked if she could look at one while we waited. He WALKED off! We left! I would never visit this awful Hellhole ever again! & I agree with the others on here about the prices. Only Don's are worse than this place.

Bought an M&P 9mm Shield in January 2013 from here. Nice shop with knowledgeable sales guys. Went in looking for a Ruger, came out with the Smith & Wesson. Apparently they're known for the tactical shotguns and accessories, was quite a bit of that around. Don't get to Indy very often, but I'll stop back in next time I'm over that way to look at shotguns, too. Thanks for the great buying experience for a first timer!

What a joke ! This has to be ...

What a joke ! This has to be the worst gun shop in the whole city and maybe the state. sales staff is rude and little to no help. while i was waiting for a range i thought i would look for a holster for my gun the old man behind the counter snapped at me when i asked him for a holster for a 40 cal. should have left then and would have saved my self 2 hours of my life ....Gun selection is minimal and their prices are a laughing matter you would have to be a fool to buy a gun from these crooks. I just returned from a horrible experience at this place. Went in on a Thursday after noon around 1:00 to shoot they told me it would be 30 to 40 minutes. AN hour and 45 minutes later i still had not been called i went and asked range man how much longer and he laughed at me and told me there where two members in front of me still. I took my license and left. heed my advice go somewhere else to shoot and if your are thinking about buying anything from there just know you are getting suckered try gun broker you will pay hundreds less and not have to deal with rude people who act like your business is a inconvenience... I would never spend another penny in that dump

Pops guns/ family trading post

I do like their range and the youngest sales associate they have. If it wasnt for there range I would probably never go there. I have purchased a few guns from them in the past but the last time i did they lied about some facts of the gun. It was not sales hype but a straight lie. I dont know why the manager would lie but it was a lie. To me its a mute point but never lie about factory this or that due to there are records the manufacturers keep. It has left a foul taste in my mouth and i will never buy another gun from them again. I will say they are not a complete rip off like dons guns or fort liberty fire arms. But I will say when ever i buy a gun i buy it from KS & E sports and my ammo or gear typically from bradis. And both locations are almost always the lowest price for everything in indianapolis area! Well worth the drive. Pops or dons is where i do some window shopping and the other two i mentioned is where i do the actual buying.. if you are to buy a gun at pops make sure you never pay the asking price... counter offer and counter offer again.. Final note: you would think a business wouldnt lie to a face they see regularly.. but they did...

I love the range and the people. Go in once or twice a month, they are very friendly and the range is very nice, and the clientel is much nicer than dons... I've only bought 1 firearm from them, mainly because they are a little on the high side of price... Have noticed that they don't carry a whole lot or at least not when I'm in the market... Will use them for shooting but ks&e for buying. (range is 3 1/2 star quality, firearms 1/2... if you want gear and accessories only they ARE a 5+)

Over Priced....never answer the phone, horrible location....What it comes down to is if you want to purchase a gun or ammo for a handgun, it's hard to do in Indianapolis. Best bet is to go to Avon or plainfield...Pop Guns might not be a complete rip off like Don's Guns, but they are a close second.

HORRIBLE never ever again!!!

Where do I even start Oh Lord. I made a order with this company well over a month ago. Not only did I pay a huge price trust me for badges or anything other go to your police supply store and you will get it about 70% cheaper. Well 2 weeks passed got nothing, I called and they explained that it was back ordered and they will get it out soon... hmm Ok well I get a email saying it will be mailed out in 2 days YAY . Ok well keep waiting now 4 weeks goes by still nothing, My husband calls and they say Oh sorry we never mailed it out we fired like half our people for not doing there job so your order got lost somewhere in there huff. So again waiting and waiting now going on 8 weeks seeing that it said it would be shipped out within 24 hours a little nuts dont ya think. I call again today and I explain this is crazy there customer service is just horrible and I either want my money back today or I want to be given a tracking number once they confirmed yes once again nothing has been sent out and they basicly LIED every other time I demanded my money back and they SAY they will send it. I guess we will see I still have not got my refund, But I am contacting the BBB everyone should with crooks like this buisness. Really sad
