Provided by SuperpagesWay, way under staffed in all areas. Many of the aides have little to no training in working with the residents. ( I am sure that the pay is not great) The nursing staff does a terrific job with the number of residents that are in their care. the outer areas may be cleaned daily but the resident rooms are not always clean. I will close with this so that everything is not negative . I feel if workers were paid better, train and held to a standard - American Village would be an awesome place of seniors.

Provided by SuperpagesI have lived here less than a year and in the last 6 months I have noticed that the nursing staff is excellent, but very UNDERSTAFFED. On week ends and nights there is only one nurse and not even an aid.The one nurse has to care for 2 floors from 10-6, or longer. In my unit there is not a permanent nurse for night shifts. It can be frightening at night because I never know who my nurse will be to pass my medications. All the staff here is caring and they try to come as quickly as possible when I push my help button. This is when they need an aide to come and tell the nurses what the problem might be. The activity staff is very creative and they have many good ideas for residents to do ,with at least one outing a week. I also enjoy the staff in the dining room, they are very friendly and the chef is excellent. Overall I am enjoying my stay here,I just wish the nurses were given more help, maybe paid more or hire new ones to help the staff run without being overworked.! Thanks!

Provided by SuperpagesMy grandmother, Florence Blackmon has lived at American Village since May 2012. The nursing staff, doctors, volunteers and management keep her going and coming, in a positive way. Grandmother has been given a new lease on life. She seem to have lost her drive when Granddaddy died in 2002. For the most part, she was only going out for doctor appointments. In the last few years, her daily companions have been home health care nurses or Margie Martin, a neighbor, friend. Margie would help Grandmother out of bed, get dress, provided a cooked breakfast & get her settled at the kitchen table. There she would look out the kitchen window, watch television or talk on the phone. In the evening Margie would get Grandmother's dinner & help to get her into bed. For a woman who had lived to work, travel, take care of grand & great grandchildren. Her golden years, weren't golden. Now, living at American Village, I have to request the nursing staff, to have her to call me. Thank you, Trish Calhoun.
