The site of The Colony dates back to some of the ?rst French settlers on Mount Desert Island in 1787. Nestled across from Frenchman's Bay just minutes from the entrance to Acadia National Park, the unique coastal property offers spectacular views of Frenchman's Bay, gardens, and large lawns. For the more active, there is an outdoor heated swimming pool and a wonderful dog walking path. The Colony makes a perfect base from which to experience the many attractions and activities in the area.

The Colony cottages have that New England "somewhere in time" character, but all the cottages have been updated with modern conveniences. Front porches have views of the gardens, trees, and ocean. Some have fully equipped kitchens with cooking utensils and dishes; all have daily maid service. Some have two side by side units with each cottage completely separate with their own entrance, TV and telephone. All are A/C.

Motel units are spacious with dressing room and separate bathroom. Two double beds and king beds, color TV, and large ceiling fans add to your comfort. All units are A/C and include a small refrigerator. Beautiful gardens and sweeping lawns across from The Bay!

With 31 cottages and several motel units to choose from, our accommodation offers something for everyone, from couples who are searching for seclusion, to groups and families looking for diversity. The cottages are individually located in private surroundings and offer a relaxing, personal and peaceful experience.
