Don't listen to the one-star reviews. I was a patient and technicians like Ms. Ray and Mr. Shannon from unit one took good care of us and even let us have community cigs to get through the pain. This is the best hospital I've been in and I went to Presbyterian-Westchester in the past.

They say not to read reviews for these types of facilities because they aren’t reliable. For West oaks, believe the reviews. This place is terrible. I was not a patient, but my child was. Dr Starbranch was who treated her, if that’s what you want to call it. She never spoke to me, never went over a treatment plan, never said one word to me about my child. I called daily, left messages for a return phone call. Finally she called the day before my daughter was released and left a message on my cell phone, with no information. I called back, no answer. I spoke with one therapist that seemed ok. The other was a joke, she knew nothing. I asked multiple times how long they planned on keeping her and I was told it depended on my insurance and the doctor. My insurance said they would pay for 5 days so they kept her 5 days. They did not help her, and to date, no phone call from the doctor. I truly feel this is all about scamming insurance companies and less about treating people. Now for the staff, how we were treated, and the building upon entering. The building is like a prison, all doors are locked, even in the front. I was never greeted by anyone that remotely acted like they cared. We walked in the door and were greeted with a rude staff member. He gave no instructions, what to expect, or what to do. He snapped at me for having my purse, this was all new to me. He pointed down the hall, where to sit, and disappeared. He never said, someone will be with you, nothing. After 30mins someone walked out and said she would be with me shortly. Fast forward 4yrs, we were finally done. We were the only ones there at the time we got there and they made us sit and wait 4hrs. All paper work was faxed to them prior to our arrival. They only started to help us when another family care in and were causing a scene. We decided from everything that was going on we didn’t want to leave our child. We told the nurse this. That’s when we were told we could not leave with her.

terrible experience to say the...

terrible experience to say the least. brought my daughter in for an evaluation and was there for over 4 hours and was told i had to wait much longer. the thing that did it for me was that the doctor would make his assessment via teleconference (skype). this is obsurd!!! how could you make an accuarate evalution from a computer conference. when i was ready to leave because i had enough of the unprofessional behavior and attitude from the staff, i was unable to leave. the doors where locked and we were not allowed to go. it took over an hour before they finally let us out. i was held against my free will and feel some what tramatized behind the incident. horrible establishment and by no means would i have left my daughter in their care.

West Oaks is UNACCEPTABLE! I was there for 6 days of abuse in May 2016. W. O. left me traumatized! I had a panic attack while in admissions; staff did nothing. They then wrongly put in the "violent" unit. A delusional woman came up behind me and VIOLENTLY attacked me by yanking my head and pounding her fists as hard as she could on my head. Had the techs not acted immediately, I have no doubt I would have been severely hurt--most likely brain damaged. I SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN PLACED ON THAT UNIT. Also I was not seen by a psychiatrist until approximately 25 hours later which is a violation of the law! The law states that psych patients are to be seen asap within 12 hours of arrival. I was without sleep for WELL OVER 53 hours due to the combined neglect of the local er and West Oaks. Staff lied throughout my stay. I received NO help--ONLY more traumatization. There were 2 times during my stay that the ENTIRE juvenile unit went into complete riots resulting in severe injuries to a tech.

This is the worst hospital I ever walked into for a assessment. The staff don't even say hi or smile at all! I filled out my paperwork and then walked out the door to smoke a cigarette and got on my phone and started searching for a better happier place. I was outside for about 40 minutes and not one time did they come outside to welcome me in for the assessment. I asked for the person in charge. He was phoned and he said he would come talk to me when he was finished doing whatever he was doing, but he never came. I wouldn't spend someone else's money with west oaks ! It's like Westbury hospital BS!

horrible place. i was imprison...

horrible place. i was imprisoned there in early February due to a recent suicide attempt. as a 16 year old, i was placed in the female adolescent side of the facility. the staff was, to say the least, unfit to work there. we were all there for help with our own problems, whether mental or not, yet the staff saw us only as targets for their judgement. the staff continuously harassed patients, including myself, without being provoked. they went as far as name calling and racist remarks. i distinctly recall them wailing on a Honduran girl because of the way she spoke. they treated us as though they were better than us. they judged us instead of helping us. one day i was forced to participate in a so called "optional" group therapy exercise. to sum things up, the staff are rude, crude, judgmental pigs who dont care for the well being of the patients. on top of that, the food is definitely not satisfactory, or healthy. and my family and i were in the waiting room for more than 14 hours before i was admitted. i definitely do NOT recommend this place to anyone. i would rather see it run into the ground instead of seeing more innocent people have to deal with the incapabilities of this facility.

UPDATE: My mother was physical...

UPDATE: My mother was physically assaulted my two male techs last night! Adult Protective Services is now involved along with a couple other agencies advocating for Mentally Ill citizens. I'm in the process of having her moved but Dr. STARBRANCH is making it almost impossible. I did get a phone call back from Texas Department of Health Services and they are going to be investigating this hospital! If you or your loved one have been treated improperly by these QUACKS please contact Dee Whiting at 713-767-3337, she WILL call you back if she doesn't answer. I can't do this alone, the more complaints the better for all. WE CAN SHUT THIS HOSPITAL DOWN, as a group! Or you can contact me at [email protected] PLEASE HELP ME TO HELP OTHERS THAT MAY BE AFFECTED BY THESE MONSTERS!

West Oaks permits patients threatening other patients

I was taken involuntarily to West Oaks Hospital's adult unit for mental patients/alcohol/drug addicts unit while I was there me and other patients were threatened by an old obese lower class black female patient for no reason and I heard an old black male patient at another unit threaten another patient for no reason. At my unit or maybe at all of West Oaks Hospital the staff would just threaten to send patients like her to another unit, most mental institutions and mental institution/rehabs don't have patients that threaten other patients for no reason because they'd send them to seclusion[a room with nothing in it,they can be locked in it] or inject them with antipsychotics.
