Be Careful

I had my kitchen done buy Sage Kitchen and Bath. I found their ad on Craigslist; they were advertising 10 x 10 kitchen cabinets, cabinets and install, for $2500. I scheduled the free consult and had the designer come to my home. She rushed through the consult, gave me some brochures and left. I received a 3-D rendering a day later and decided that I’d give them a try. Well to my surprise, the $2500 cost didn’t include delivery, install, toe kicks, filler or molding although that’s what was shown in the picture. I’m a Marketing person so I know to look for/ read disclaimers, there weren’t any. To rectify the discrepancy; the designer stated that she would give up her commission so the price could reflect what the ad stated. We proceed, the installer shows up and to his surprise, he doesn’t have the right cabinets because the designers renderings weren’t exact (she rushed the consult). He calls the office to figure out what’s going on and the office calls me to say that my range/microwave combo wasn’t there when the designer showed up; yeah right (my range is 30yrs old, no joke). I replied that it was indeed there and it’s been here for 30 years, she was rushing. So after that, both owners and another random guy show up to decide what to do. The cabinets are installed, they look great but – one cabinet door is crooked and the molding is shaky. I called and asked them to fix it, no one has showed up yet – it’s been 3 weeks now.

The granite – we scheduled to granite install for the next day. I receive a call at 5:30p from MeMe to inform me that my granite order was canceled because they couldn’t get it on the freight elevator. The countertop was 96in long, the freight elevator is 5ft wide by 7ft deep by 9’10” tall, are you serious! So I decided to stop calling and go to Sage and speak to David (the owner) he explains to me how they thought that the granite may break on the trip up the elevator. I don’t know anything about granite other than its pretty so I say ok well, cut it into two parts and bring it up. He calls Granite Master (by the way, go through them, they’re cheaper than what Sage is going to charge you) and they say they’ll do it the same day. Well that didn’t happen, they did it the next day, and guess what? My countertop was in one piece! The installer from Granite Master gives me the invoice and it’s for $1100, but when I reviewed my contract from Sage, they charged me $1557.70. When I call Sage to ask why there was a difference, I was told that 1. It wasn’t my invoice – although my name, address and granite color was on it, 2. That they had to renegotiate the price because Granite Master didn’t want to do it – although I was given this price on 3/14 but the granite wasn’t installed until 3/27. So not only did they jerk me around, I had to take off from work an extra day (for the granite mishap), they stole $457.70 from me. I won’t use them ever again!

If you decide to use them, be very, very careful!
