Since 1948, Muilenburg Prosthetics Inc. (MPI) has been serving patients in Greater Houston and beyond. When founder Al Muilenburg first hung his shingle, the company was known as the Muilenburg Artificial Limb Company. Al and his wife, Loretta, an occupational therapist, lived in the back of the house on Hathaway Street while the business was run out of the front. Fabrication took place in the adjacent garage and sockets were dried in the kitchen oven. Back then, artificial limbs were largely made up of wood and leather but veterans from World War II and Korea sparked a growth in technology and the Muilenburg team grew with it. I have been going to Muilenburgs for almost 6 years now. The staff there are terrific. The service is great. They are quick to answer any questions that I have. I actually feel like part of the family there because I am reconized as soon as I walk in. Due to my kind of life style, which is very very active, they recommended the perfect prosthetic system for me. Almost 6 years later, I am still walking on the same system. Friends and family always tell me that when I am wearing pants, you can not tell that I am walking on a prosthetic. I tell them everytime its because of Muilenburgs in Houston. They set me up with the perfect system. To bad there is only a five star rating system here because I would easily give them a ten. Thanks again Muilenburgs for the great service you have provided me and I look forward to doing more bussiness with you. You have made my life alot easier. I can walk again. I can continiue to play with my kids and actually keep up with them.
