Very near and dear to my heart. Their po' boys have been my favorite food since the 1970s. I could eat them every single day and never, ever get burnt out. My 82 year old mother (who is also a native Houstonian), still talks often about how they had to have a cop direct traffic at lunchtime back when they were at their original location on Taft Street. I have fond memories of going there as a small child and being in complete awe (who knows why) of the wooden Indian that stood at the door. I was always compelled to touch it (again, who knows why! lol.) I truly feel sorry for those who aren't aware of the difference between the ORIGINAL Antone's and the "fake" one. Shameful. There is just NO comparison.
