American College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine is an academic institution dedicated to educating and offering degree to individuals as health care practitioners based on the theories, principles, and clinical applications of traditional Chinese medicine. The institute was founded in 1991 as American Academy of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine. ACAOM offers a complete clinical internship to all persons regardless of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, marital status or physical disability. The college is certified by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to award a Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree with a major in acupuncture and oriental medicine, and is one of the first Oriental medicine institutions to be accredited by the American Academy of Pain Management. ACAOM has headquarters in Houston.
