Huge selection, from really cheap collectibles to expensive Hawaiiana antiques. I suggest anyone who has an appreciation for Hawaiian culture and money and stamps need to come down and check the store out for themselves. They will be surprised. Local family owned...nice to support local business

Like to browse without a salesperson approaching you immediately? I feel comfortable reviewing the largest inventory of collectibles in stamps, postcards, vintage envelopes, coins, out-of-print books, etc. There's baskets of old stuff that can be had for a steal. Or the rarest of Hawaiian coins and stamps that cost thousands of dollars to add distinction to one's private collection. It's presently my favorite hangout on a day off from work to lose myself in Hawaiian and American history through the history of the collectibles. Ask the owner, Don Metcalf, a question and he'll answer like a human encyclopedia. To me he's like a professor of the collectibles he offers for sale. The place is like a Hawaiian museum of artifacts. But one which you can walk off with the exhibit - for a reasonable price. Most treasures I buy are sold at below established catalog prices.

My daughter and I visited last summer and decided to visit the Hawaiian Stamp & Coin store It reminded me of a Museum. There's Books, Postcards, Stamps, Jewelry, Gold, and Silver Coins. the people that work there are very knowledgeable especially the two men. They know their history and have many stories.

I know next time I'm on the Island I'll be going in there to see what's new.

This store has it all. The best selection of coins, stamps, paper money and Hawaiiana I have ever seen. Every one was really nice and knowledgeable and gave me lots of great advice on what to invest in. I now have a new hobby. Yay

Although the items for sale at Hawaiian Island Stamp & Coin at 1111 Bishop Street are really very cool, I have never had such rude, disinterested service from anyone in my whole life as I got from the greasy-haired, untidy, completely bored guy in there, or the unbelievably rude girl who yawned right in my face!! This place would be a must-visit, if the staff were engaged. I actually hated my experience there, and regret the taint the rude people put on my cool purchase. What an idiot I was to buy from them!! (Still, I love my coin).
