Stars Inn is a hidden gem in Hiawatha and DEFINITELY the place to stay!!!

Mary, Mary, Mary-and Mike, Mike Mike!!! They're the owners at Stars Inn and you couldn't ask for nicer, more welcoming folks! They've not only gone out of their way to make me happy during my stay here, but I've seen them do the same for EVERYONE at the motel. Mary has a knack for knowing just the right thing to say or do to make your stay here the best it can be.

It's a shame more people don't know Mary and Mike sold the Sunflower Motel to renovate Stars Inn (formerly Gateway Express) and the old Hiawatha Lodge. They've been so busy working on their new properties they have yet to put the word out. That's why I'm here to make sure EVERYONE KNOWS!!! I only wish someone did ME that favor BEFORE I came to Hiawatha! Discovering Stars Inn is like discovering a hidden gem.

Stars Inn has yet to put up an online presence, so I had no idea it even existed until I came to town. When I went searching for a place to stay there were no reviews online to tell me. I had no idea that the MASSIVE number of rave reviews for the Sunflower Motel, where I booked a months stay before arriving, were for it's previous owners. Mary and Mike owned the Sunflower for 9 years, building up a well earned, AMAZING reputation. When you read the glowing reviews, their names are mentioned over and over again by guests who vow to return.

The reviews gushing about Mary's sweet hearted hospitality are right on the money. You couldn't ask for a nicer lady to rent from. I'll say AGAIN, she goes ABOVE AND BEYOND for her customers and treats EVERYONE like family.

Not only that, the rooms at Stars Inn are SUPER clean and, unlike my previous room at the Sunflower, where my pillowcase was yellowed from use, the sheets are pristine white.

Also, at the Sunflower I could hear EVERYTHING, including normal conversations in the room next door. Not here at Stars Inn. I've had people staying in both rooms next to me and not heard a peep.

Also, at Sunflower I had to put a board under my mattress so my back wouldn't hurt. Here the beds are SUPER comfortable, so, thankfully, no board underneath me. There's also a deadbolt on the door, which definitely makes me feel safer at night. The Sunflower only has bathroom style locks.

With refrigerators, microwaves, free cable and wi-fi, Stars Inn has everything you need for your stay. It's also slightly back from the highway, so there's less outdoor noise than at the Sunflower. That said, you can still walk to the store or to get a bite to eat when you're hungry.

All of the above would be more than enough for most people but I require a motel that's pet friendly as well. I was soooo happy to discover Stars Inn has some rooms that allow furbabies. That sealed the deal for me!

I need a place that's going to allow me to bring my kitty, is budget friendly, and also comfortable and clean. That's a tall order! Having stayed at both the Sunflower and Stars Inn, I'll say AGAIN, I wish someone had written this review BEFORE I came to Hiawatha!!!

If you're looking for a GOOD motel at a GOOD price, complete with hard to find HOME TOWN HOSPITALITY, look no further. STARS INN IS THE PLACE FOR YOU.

Aren't you glad you read this review before YOU booked your stay? ;-) You're welcome.
