We signed a contract, to build a 2nd story addition to our house, with Elmer Ortiz and Jose Lizama of E & R Construction Group on August 31 and paid $4,000 as per the agreement to begin the work.When upon numerous reminders, they did not commence any work for 40 days, we became suspicious and looked up the status their license on the Nassau county website and discovered that it was not valid. Anyways they indicated that they will be giving us our money back. However, despite the promise they returned only $2,000 on October 19 with a promise to pay the remaining $2,000 by October 28. However, they later reneged on this promise and didn't give us money back.
