I had sent my children to Oakcrest Farm and watched kids grow and learn from this positive experience. At 52 years old, I haven’t had a lesson on my own horse in many years. I decided to brush up on my riding skills and improve my balance. I was greeted with smiles and friendliness with each person I met. The farm was clean, the horses all looked healthy, the riders were all cheerful and enthusiastic. Although it was cold and drizzling, I was even impressed by a pair of joyfully giggly girls in riding attire, arms linked as they “cantered” passed me along the western themed town buildings on their way to claim their riding horse for their upcoming lesson.
My horse had never been there, had never been in an indoor arena with mirrors, but she seemed to quickly settle in, I think in part because of the calm attitude of all the lesson horses. The footing was lovely. Well groomed flooring mix of soft fluffy yet slightly firm footing and no dust. Manure was all picked up and the lesson started on time. The few spectators were in a quiet enclosed viewing booth where they would not be a distraction but comfortable. Although it was a group lesson, I felt like I was given ample personal instruction and the whole vibe was upbeat and positive during my entire hour lesson. I can’t wait to go back!
