Best of Hartford ! . . I've been going to the Hartford Vet for a few years now and have had NO bad experiences except paying the bill , Which was a lot more reasonably priced than the Yuppy vets hospital. I've been lucky to have very healthy cats all my life so a little bad luck over the last few years has driven me a little crazy. They coached me through rapid weight gain and some food poisoning problems and my cats survived. They have answered the phone during off hours and been willing to stay late after closing to meet after regular work hours. I am still not an expert cat dad even though I have a whole lifetime of experience at it but it is nice to have these guys there to help wit hall the stuff I don't know. The Hartford Vet Clinic has done everything as purrfect as anybody can possible be for any price. I think they have saved me about 50% over other vets so I can afford to have more regular professional health care for them (which is better than most of us people can get) . They deserve 5 stars -= JUDGEMENT = POSITIVE EXPERIENCE .
We rescued our dog from a local shelter and they recommended this vet because of their prices and their history with them so we brought our dog in and got her a rabies vaccination and got her spayed and everything went fine. Less than 8 months later they called us and claimed she needed a rabies vaccination right away because she had never had one and since I had misplaced the paperwork I didn't second guess it. We brought her in for the vaccination and had them clip her claws because they had told us it was complimentary with the check up. When the vet came in to give her the vaccination she "pulled" a flee off her and said she had flees and we needed to buy frontline from them right away (she is a short haired inside dog and has never had flees and has been on frontline throughout the summer months and is bathed/checked regularly). We knew she didn't have flees so we didn't buy frontline from them and refused all the other shots they insisted on. When we went up to pay they had charged us $12 for clipping her claws which they had said was complimentary (and always had been in the past). While we were paying another person came in with their dog and they brought them to the same room we had been in right away. They claimed our dog had flees but they didn't disinfect the room before they sent the next customer in. Later that day I found the paperwork from her first checkup and found out she had already had a rabies vaccination and she wasn't due for another one yet even though they contacted us and said she had NEVER had one and needed one immediately. I would not bring your pet to this veterinary clinic but if you do I hope you have their medical records and they are on frontline so they don't get flees.
Best Vet clinic in South Dakota. Kind, caring and professional. You wont go wrong here. My dogs and cats give this clinic two paws up!
