Downey School is an elementary school located in Harrisburg, Pa. The school offers an intensive curriculum in math and reading and writing, and uses textbooks inventory, such as Success for All Reading, Open Court Reading, Addison-Wesley Science, Saxon Math, McGraw- Hill Social Studies and Zane-Blosser Writing. It also offers the Success for All program, that specializes in prevention and early intervention for learning problems and provides materials, professional development, assessment and classroom management and tutoring services. In addition, it provides various programs that include Metro Arts and Tutorial After-School programs. Downey School has various extra-curricular activities and student clubs, such as navy tutors, double Dutch jump rope, honor society, school spirits days and awards assemblies.
