Before move out I spoke with Laura in the office who said as long as I did a walk through, I'd get my security deposit back minus any damages if there were any. If I DIDN'T do a walkthrough, I'd lose a $125 cleaning fee. The only thing noted by Matt during my walkthrough were small charges for a lost key & stove drip pans. A month later I got my security deposit back with $125 taken out for cleaning. I called to ask why, Denise didn't have an answer but said she'd find out & give me a call back. After a WEEK of attempting to get in touch with someone and ZERO calls back, I finally spoke with Denise who first said that EVERYONE loses the cleaning fee. I state this was not on my move out walkthrough & that they owe me $125. They call me back later that day & state that they had to have the carpets cleaned. I HAD NO CARPET IN THIS UNIT. It was all laminate. At this point it's clear they're trying to find any excuse to keep my money. Denise hands the phone to Matt who did my walkthrough who suddenly remembers I had a dog & the $125 was to clean up dog hair (which is a lie; I cleaned my apartment thoroughly before moving out) but the receipt from the cleaner does not cite any issue. I finally talk with Laura. She states that everyone loses this $125 cleaning fee, despite the fact that it is not stated upon leaving a deposit, in the lease, or upon move out that this is a standard fee everyone loses. She also states that my $300 nonrefundable pet fee does not cover hair damage (so they just pocket that as well as there was no physical damage done by my pet). She refuses to give me my $125 back & says the next person I need to speak with is the Berkeley County Court office then promptly hangs up on me. It wasn't until I got my lawyer involved that I finally got my money back. If you have lived here & they took this money from you with zero reasonable reason cited: THEY OWE YOU MONEY. If you're considering living here: DON'T.

South Point apartments is one step up from ghetto. They are "pet friendly" and in the lease agreement that I signed it noted that there is a noise ordinance for animals disturbing the peace. Well the office is too worried about making everyone happy and not worry about people and babies are trying to sleep when dogs are barking all day and night. The complex was built in the 70s and there has been no renovations and updates since then. Prepare to have your apartment fall apart with plumbing problems. Dont bother trying to call the headquarters they dont answer their phone. If I had 0 stars I would rate it 0 stars. It seems like ever month I see more people moving out
