About Dancenter North Our school was formed in 1974 with a commitment of teaching solid basic technique in all disciplines of Dance. Whether a student is interested in studying recreationally or aims to pursue a career in the field of Dance, one can be assured that our methods of study and our professional staff of instructors in such an inspirational atmosphere will allow a student to learn and develop in a most correct manner. Because we believe that class time is so valuable, we do not offer a "recital" with fancy costumes and dances that are practiced all year long. We also do not partake in dance competitions. What we do have is a "Defile" at the end of the year that allows our students from pre-school through eighth grade the opportunity to be presented on stage in a "concert graduation" type of a setting offering a chance to be on stage in a comfortable manner. We also offer performance workshops during the summer to allow students the opportunity to learn and/or develop their own choreography for performance. For those students who attained a certain skill level, we offer a "performance practice" program. This is purely optional and is determined by audition, usually prior to the start of our first semester. Ballet, Tap and Jazz dancers along with our vocalists have the opportunity to be part of Dancenter North's splendid productions. The highly acclaimed Magic of the Nutcracker, our award-winning tap company Soul-2-Soles and our exciting Upstairs Jazz Company, along with our new "Gleeful" Show Choir group that will produce our Disney Tour Show offer plenty of performance outlets.
