I had heard about this little restaurant on the Newport Hwy.,

but had put off trying it because it was a bit out of the way.

We live in the city limits and usually just eat pretty close

to home. Well, we decided one evening to take the drive

and try Caney Branch Restaurant. Wow - we are so glad

we did !! As soon as you walk in, you feel right at home !

The staff greets you as if they have known you all their

lives and the atmosphere is country and comfy. But the

sight and smell of the buffet seal the deal. All-you-can-eat

fried chicken, real mashed potatoes, green beans with meat

for seasoning, sweet potato casserole, boiled cabbage with

just the right amount of hot pepper, yeast rolls, salads, and

the best blackberry cobbler you will ever find ! Are you hungry

yet ?!! That is just a sampling of what they offer at Caney

Branch Restaurant. We ended our first visit with a chat on

the front porch with the owner, who oddly enough we ended

up knowing. We have been back many more times and will

continue to enjoy "Just Like Grandma's" home cookin' !!
