From humble roots as traders in hides, furs, wool, scrap metal and other commodities, Norfolk Iron & Metal has grown to become one of the largest steel service centers in the Midwest. The company creates a variety of steel and iron products, including pipe, angles, beams, deck span, reinforcing bars and mesh. With its headquarters in Norfolk, Neb., and manufacturing plants in Greeley, Colo. and Emporia, Kan., the company serves a 10-state region that includes Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana, as well as portions of Canada. This third-generation company was established in 1908 as Norfolk Hide and Metal Company. It has strong supply relationships with large domestic and international producers, receiving by rail, barge or truck. It is a privately-owned company that employs nearly 215 people.
